Publisher's summary

I'm pushing aside the memory of my nightmare, pushing aside thoughts of Alex, pushing aside thoughts of Hana and my old school, push, push, push, like Raven taught me to do. The old life is dead. But the old Lena is dead too. I buried her. I left her beyond a fence, behind a wall of smoke and flame.

Lauren Oliver delivers an electrifying follow-up to her acclaimed New York Times best seller, Delirium. This riveting, brilliant novel crackles with the fire of fierce defiance, forbidden romance, and the sparks of a revolution about to ignite.

Love this series !

The narrator did such a fantastic job too! This series should have been a movie before Divergent , though I love both.

Slow start, but just as good as the first!

When I first started listening I didn't like it because the story was bleak, but it eventually warmed up and now that I have finished, I think it is just as good as the first book in the series! Lauren Oliver has such a good blending of emotion and action. I can't wait to start the next book!

Slightly disappointing second

After enjoying Delerium so much I was somewhat less enamored with the follow-up. Honestly I can't say why and would still buy the next in the series and recommend both to anyone who enjoys a distopian society tale for young adults.

Enjoyed it!

I thoroughly enjoyed this continuation of Delirium! it's well written, I enjoy the characters, and most of all I enjoy the story.

I highly recommend it if you like YA fiction/dystopian stories.

A lot

This book IS angst. Sometimes it can be a bit much. BUT… the writing is well done and the world is compelling and i find myself coming back to this over and over. Good sequel.

Better than the first book

I loved it so much because it had so much more depth of character and I added so much more to the character Lena As a person, and I just thought it had so much more action and adventure, and so many more little details that made it 10 times better than the first book

Better storytelling than the first book

This is still a little juvenile, as it should be since it’s a book about people who are about 18. But I feel that the story telling was a lot better in this than the first book. The first book felt a bit generic for me, but this one had a unique way of going about the narrative

Unexpected and Terrific!

I did not even know Delirium was the first book in a trilogy until I spotted Pandemonium on the Audible front page a few days ago. What an unexpected thrill! I loved Delirium and really needed something good to listen to this week.

To start, the narration is perfect. All the emotion and poetry of the book is there in Sarah Drew's performance.

The structure of this story is different from the more straightforward one used in the first book. This one flips back and forth between "Then" (Lena's time in the Wilds) and "Now" (her adventures in New York as part of the Resistance). I think this helps keep the pacing even, spreading the romance over the entire book rather than squeezing it into the second half. It was not hard for me to keep track of where she was, and both narratives are equally compelling and heartbreaking.

Bits of it dragged, though, especially Lena and Julian's long trek underground. And some of the plot developments were predictable, like the Resistance having a darker side. But these are minor quibbles.

The ending was startling, though not unexpected. I cannot wait until the next book. Hope I'm not waiting too long!

Great sequal to Delirium

Where does Pandemonium rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The Delirium/Pandemonium series rank in my top five.

What other book might you compare Pandemonium to and why?

The Delirium/Pandemonium series is similar to The Hunger Games or Divergent series in that they are placed in an alternate future (dystopian), but that's really where the similiarities end.

Which scene was your favorite?

I enjoyed watching (in my mind) to Lena and Julian's relationship develop in the holding room.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definately. I think I listened to it off and on, but finished in one day. Didn't want to turn it off. Then of course, we're stuck waiting for the third and final book in the series.

Any additional comments?

I love reading/listening to series, but if you're not the patient type, you might want to wait until the series is complete before buying them.

OMG this book was amazing!!!

Where does Pandemonium rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I really loved this book. I liked it more than the first book for sure.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Pandemonium?

I didn't think at first I would like it, but the past/present format of the book really worked for me! It was very cinematic for me, flashbacks are very cool. I could picture how it would look in a movie, so that was great.

What about Sarah Drew’s performance did you like?

Spunky, fun voices.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

What is up with these endings???? Lauren Oliver, you're killing me! When does Requiem come out? What is going to happen??? I need to know right now!
