Publisher's summary

I'm pushing aside the memory of my nightmare, pushing aside thoughts of Alex, pushing aside thoughts of Hana and my old school, push, push, push, like Raven taught me to do. The old life is dead. But the old Lena is dead too. I buried her. I left her beyond a fence, behind a wall of smoke and flame.

Lauren Oliver delivers an electrifying follow-up to her acclaimed New York Times best seller, Delirium. This riveting, brilliant novel crackles with the fire of fierce defiance, forbidden romance, and the sparks of a revolution about to ignite.

Great YA read

Any additional comments?

This "young adult" book is one that I probably would not have read in a book form, but I loved having it read to me! I like to know what kinds of books my kids are reading, and I always end up enjoying them too!

Book 2 made be believe love is actually a disease

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I'd spend less time hearing about how the internal angst of the main character. The "then" portion was pretty solid.

What was most disappointing about Lauren Oliver’s story?

that this is book 2 but it was basically more of the same. the same person dealing with the same process of falling in love, and yet being equally perplexed by it as she was the first time.

What about Sarah Drew’s performance did you like?

She did a solid job with what she had to work with.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

nah. if the story were about the world and the way its setup, and about the struggle, and whatnot I would. but this would be 2 hours of a girl looking longingly at a boy and not understanding what's happening inside her.

Any additional comments?

this book could be half the length. the love story was too much of the book. we've already seen her fall in love in book one. I was hoping this one would be more about the resistance and their fight.

Narrator Rocks!!!

the book is great, but the performance is exceptional. She really makes you believe that she's feeling what the characters are feeling. Almost makes you forget that she's just reading a book rather than the actual person going through those experiences. Very talented.

Pronounced different

Good book. I wish the narrator would go back and listen to previous works to be consistent with name pronunciation.

Overall Good Book

I loved the book but didn't like how the chapters was set up. It was difficult to remember what happened in the last chapter. (Not saying it was hard to understand but while listening it was just hard to tell the when it was then and now.) It was still a good story.

An engaging sequel

This book is probably not going to win any awards, but it's entertaining, if a little predictable, and tugs on the heart strings maybe even more, and engages the reader better than the first. Sarah Drew's narration is high quality, although if you don't like her voice (and I know it has a vapid quality that some would find grating) be wary!

Just as good as the first

This story is so amazing and unique. I loved it a lot and the performance was just fantastic. Can't wait for the third book

Dystopian fiction well done.

As a librarian who really appreciates young
adult fiction, I highly recommend this trilogy.

Much of the focus of today is on creating utopian situations, unfortunately utopias don’t work for all.

In an attempt to end societies problems, they make the mistake such movements often make. Too quickly it becomes a power situation - do it this way or else.

the story itself is good

I enjoyed the 2nd installment of the series. Onlyou're dead the only thing is, author uses the same Descriptive phrases in both books. It gets boring to imagine it the same way. Also, the the character says the same things every time she's about to die, which is almost every chapter. but the actual events of the story are unpredictable, which is great and kept me listening.
