Ruby never asked for the abilities that almost cost her her life. Now she must call upon them on a daily basis, leading dangerous missions to bring down a corrupt government and breaking into the minds of her enemies. Other kids in the Children’s League call Ruby “Leader", but she knows what she really is: a monster.

When Ruby is entrusted with an explosive secret, she must embark on her most dangerous mission yet: leaving the Children’s League behind. Crucial information about the disease that killed most of America’s children - and turned Ruby and the others who lived into feared and hated outcasts - has survived every attempt to destroy it. But the truth is saved in only one place: a flash drive in the hands of Liam Stewart, the boy Ruby once believed was her future - and who now wouldn’t recognize her.

As Ruby sets out across a desperate, lawless country to find Liam - and answers about the catastrophe that has ripped both her life and America apart - she is torn between old friends and the promise she made to serve the League. Ruby will do anything to protect the people she loves. But what if winning the war means losing herself?

"Great Story, Great Narrator, Annoying character..."

Ok it was a good book, exciting, action packed all the way through but Ruby has gotten on my last nerve. She is almost as dumb as Bella Swan in Twilight. She has the powers but afraid to use them even to save her own neck then if she does use them she starts feeling all guilty and it is just pathetic. People are dying! And Liam, oh my goodness Liam. The boy loves you for goodness sake. Ruby is constantly putting her friends in danger by being too scared to act and is unable to help them due to her incompetence and all the issues going on in her head about being a "monster". She really literally worked my nerves. I listened to it on audio book and I wanted to just fast forward it. I actually turned it off at one time cause she was being so dumb. I did like the ending and I am ready for book 3 but if you can stomach Ruby's "I can't speak, it's stuck in my throat, I don't want to be a monster, I should be locked away" attitude then you will love this book. It is frustrating but a good read and the story line in my opinion is very interesting.

Audio book addict - completely taken with the YA Dystopia genre, although I also like a good biography or sci-fi novel, especially when it involves time travel . . .

"Just as good as Darkest Minds"

For a middle book, this one blows that "middle book syndrome" idea right out of the water. Wow! Every bit as action packed and drama driven as the first book, Alexandra Bracken has delivered a whopper of a sequel. The audio by Amy McFadden is superb. Every voice was distinct, every emotion appropriate. I am getting spoiled by all these voice actors and highly impatient with those who just narrate. This book is amazing. Just get it and listen to it - you're welcome.

I am dyslexic! If it wasn't audible I would not even be able to know what's in a book. I found out I love books.

    "Good book"
Would you consider the audio edition of Never Fade to be better than the print version?

I've read the first two books and they're really good. My question is will they get the third book. I've noticed audibles good about getting like the first two and then never getting the last one. I am dyslexic and I cannot read. So I use audible to listen to books. Case in point Julie Kagawa !

I mostly like young adult/teen books that aren't too juvenile. My library is full of fantasy and sci fi and I like a good love story.

I think the relationships were more interesting in the first book.I am by no means a literary expert but I have listened to a lot of audio books and it bothers me when the author uses too many of the same phrases, for example, "she let out a breathe she hadn't realized she'd been holding". I love young adult, sci fi books, especially when the characters have powers and I thought the story had potential but it was lacking something. I really wanted to like the main character but she kept on doing the most moronic things and doing things that contradicted her supposed ideals. It's disappointing to listen to a book and be mad at the main character the whole time for being so stupid. The love story part of this book could have been way more dynamic but sadly it was just more annoying than anything else... The narrator was okay... she did voices well but when she says "than" or "than that" she sounds like Sarah Palin and it got on my nerves.

    "Fantastic yet again"

I had to download this as soon as I finished listening to The Darkest Minds (the first book in the series) Never Fade starts of where the last ended and once again I was gripped by the characters and the further evolution of the world they liv. Once again the book is so well paced and the morality of the decisions the characters make is handled so well you will not want this story to end. Great great books a must listen.
