Publisher's summary

My tale has been told again and again, and I've heard each one. Except for my hair, I barely recognize the pitiful renditions. Muddled versions, crafted to entertain laughing children...but the children wouldn't have laughed if they'd known the real story. It wasn't their fault. They didn't know the truth. Nobody did. My name is Rapunzel. I will tell you my story. I will tell you the truth.

Unoriginal and Obvious

What could K.C. Hilton have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Perhaps when Hilton attempted to make an original, new retelling she could have made plot choices that weren't so obvious. Additionally, she could have used fewer cliches and written a book where the main character is not a total Mary Sue.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The breathy whine she used for Rapunzel severely detracted from the overall narration. Also, all male characters shouldn't have the same exact voice.

What character would you cut from My Name Is Rapunzel?

Rapunzel

This Fractured Fairy Tale Is Broken

Oh, my. This book drones on and on and on! Rapunzel should have been an old lady, sage, she even said it herself by Chapter 3, but she still talked like a teen in angst. The same drivel comes off the page over and over. The storyline goes off track and is nonsensical even for a fairy tale.

I had a hard time liking the reader for the text she had to work with. Her voices were great, though.

I could not finish.
Yuckity-yuck.
It could have been such a great story, too.
