When Mikayla imagined her prom night, she envisioned a fairy-tale evening full of romance. So when betrayal and tragedy come in quick succession, Mikayla is completely destroyed. Suddenly, everything she loved and everyone she relied on are tragically, irrevocably gone.
Jake, a handsome boy she just met, happens to witness her loss. With no one to turn to, Mikayla is forced to depend on this near stranger and his family, and he in turn is determined to take care of her. But Mikayla - thrust into adulthood with no one to guide her - is desperate to contain her grief and hide what she considers to be her weakness. Mikayla and Jake both want more, but despite their growing closeness and intense chemistry, she tries to keep her distance and protect her heart. As he does everything in his power to win her trust, Mikayla must choose between remaining alone and safe or letting love in.

Started good, but quickly turned into an annoying teenage melodrama where the only conflict that existed could have been resolved if these two idiots would just communicate with each other. I was hoping for more substance and real struggle. Not to mention the lack of plausibility in many of the details. I'm willing to suspend disbelief, but this was too much for me. It's definitely the kind of book I would have loved as a teenager though, ha, but I've mostly out grown the cliches and over tired tropes this book uses. I was disappointed. I had really wanted to like this book.
The female narrator talks the entire time in this breathy, raspy, sort of sultry way that got on my nerves. The guy was good though.
Too busy to read as much as I'd like, Audible is the perfect solution. I'm a romance reader mostly, but can stray into any story.
I absolutely love the More Than series and couldn't wait to listen to the audio version. The story is still amazing but the performance was lack luster. The female voice was kind of robotic.
That being said, I am keeping this and will listen to it again and again because it's a love story like no other and the quick wit and humor that Jay McLean implants into her books makes the characters lovable. I hope the rest of the series is added to audible soon.
I LOVED this book. I didn't realize at the beginning how sexual it was, but still loved it nonetheless. Which they would have picked a different female reader...her voice isn't right for this.
What an amazing, emotional, roller coaster read! I'm new to Jay McLean books and I'm happy I chose this series to start! She did an amazing job showing us the emotions Kayla went thru and how badly Jake wanted her. It wasn't all "teen hormones". It was about love and finding ones self while going thru tragedy. Can't wait to start the next book with Logan's story!
yes. I liked the narrators
I would probably try another book. This one just didn't quite hit a climax for me or something. I found myself getting bored and even wanting to fast forward :(
Allison lynnewood sounded a little more mature than a college girl to me for some reason but I loved them both and would listen to other audibles by them.
i'm on the fence. It wasn't awful, I just wasn't into it. I was scrolling for other books while I was listening to this one. It didn't keep my attention very well
well..... I won't be reading a second book to this :(
I don't know what it was about this book. I don't mind insta love but this was just a little off.
So much jealousy, and not the "good" kind....if that's even a thing. Too much It wasn't fun and flirty or anything like that. It started depressing ...and never really hit a climax from there
The love story was sweet but the i'm not good enough stuff I can't deal with. It gets annoying
5 Crazy Ass Must Read/Listen Stars!!!!
You gotta love Kindle Unlimited with narration. I have been finding all these great books and authors that I wouldn't have if I didn't have that option. So I listened more than I read this. The narrators did an amazing job with this. They made it so easy to follow along and get lost in the characters and their story.
This was a rollercoaster of a read and I enjoyed every twist, turn, drop, and incline. I was drawn into the story by the whacky antics of Kayla's family. I laughed so hard. Then, I was so upset along with Kayla after the betrayal she faced. Then I was smacked right in the face and devastated right along side her. Her and Jake's connection was heart-wrenching and had me clutching my chest throughout.
The best thing about listening to the audiobook was that I didn't have to put down my kindle and wait to finish reading until I finished household chores.
I just one-clicked More Than Her on KU and I'm delving into that today. I may just have to use my monthly credit for the audiobook being as I have a ton of errands to run.
I didn't realize this was a young adult romance when I purchased it and I'm glad I didn't. I usually don't like them, but I did like this one.
