Publisher's summary

A mysterious island.

An abandoned orphanage.

A strange collection of very curious photographs.

It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that makes for a thrilling listening experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets 16-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow - impossible though it seems - they may still be alive.

A spine-tingling fantasy, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.

Expected more excitement.

The story line was amazing, pairing it with the photographs was brilliant and the characters were very well written. But I think some of the excitement and suspense got lost in the super descriptive paragraphs. I can't wait to read the next one!! I imagine the fun Will begin now. :-)

Wasn't deterred by bad reviews

The story was light and enjoyable , multiple characters that can make you believe they could possibly exist... And the story didn't drag or seem to cut short at any point.
There was a lot of negative reviews about Jesse B's performance which I was surprised by because I really enjoyed his readings of the Percy Jackson's series AND that being said I couldn't get past thinking Jacob was Percy due to jesse's voice. Also Jesse just seemed a bit flat in this performance, one review said he didn't do a good job on the " accents " but that didn't bother me at all.

Overall I won't NOT buy a book based on the reader , and it didn't keep me from finishing the book

Decent quick listen

Good story... The narration kinda sucked. Like many others have said the accents were poorly done and distracting at times.

Not just fantasy

What a wonderful treasure hidden in a simple title. I expected a little break in my omnivorous consumption of SF and Military but became enthralled by the story and the characters and the wonderful narration. Will there be more? I certainly hope so.
