Publisher's summary

A mysterious island.

An abandoned orphanage.

A strange collection of very curious photographs.

It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that makes for a thrilling listening experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets 16-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow - impossible though it seems - they may still be alive.

A spine-tingling fantasy, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.

Always leaves you wondering what will happen next.

This is not my style of book and I read it off and in but it kept my interest and of course I could not put it down in the end.

Good story. Poor telling.

The story teller has a good main narrating voice but no skill at character voices.

Great book !! BTW the author is amazing and has very good accents !

I don't know why people think that Jesse Bernstein is a bad narrator because he isn't in fact his accents are very good and make the story a whole Lot more interesting! He should narrate the next book. 👍🏻
BTW loved the book,so interesting couldn't stop listening!!
I hope you reconsider Jesse Bernstein!!

Great story, baaaaad narration

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The story was a good one for a young adult book. It was enjoyable, and kept me interested but the narration was horrible. I love audiobooks and listen to them constantly but I can't think of a single book narrated worse. He's simply very bad at accents, and at different characterization. Miss Peregrine (in my opinion) is the worse. She kind of sounds like a nutty old lady.
The story is good, I recommend it, but perhaps read the paperback.

Probably better than what it sounds

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was enjoyable, and although I could probably have been able to enjoy it more, the narrator just kept distracting me with his cheesy voices. I can't believe they couldn't get someone to make a Scottish or British accent properly. Worse still, he should have not tried at all. The heroine comes through as pompous, affected and childish because of the narrator's attempts to emulate accents/

What was one of the most memorable moments of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children?

can't think of any special one

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jesse Bernstein?

Gerard Doyle

Do you think Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Story left unfinished, full of untied ends.

Fascinating!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Another teacher recommended I read it before the movie comes out. I'm so glad I did! The narrator is excellent! Now on to book two!

Good story, wrong narrator

This was a cute story which is why I finished it. The narrators accents and characters where less than compelling. Most of the characters were British or Irish, so I think someone who does a more convincing British accent might have drawn me in more.
