Publisher's summary

A truce between the living and the dead isn't enough to keep Claire Danvers out of danger in this third entry in the Morganville Vampires series.

Claire Danvers' college town may be run by vampires, but a truce between the living and the dead has made things relatively safe - for a while. Now people are turning up dead, a psycho is stalking Claire, and an ancient bloodsucker has proposed private mentoring.

interesting books, don't like the narrator

I enjoyed reading the first 2 books in this series after they were recommended by a friend. I then purchased book 3 in audio, and had a hard time listening to it. The narrator is flat and uninteresting, it's almost as if she's reading it for the first time, not enthusiasm, no emotion. I will be reading the rest of the books, I couldn't tolerate listening to another book narrated like this one - just bad.

Midnight Alley

I think these books are fun! I just want to make it clear to everyone that audible does have books 1-7 available and it is important to read them in order.

what a stupid series.

Claire is a big eyed cow while Buffy was a smart kid. I had to get that out of my system. Now. Claire has a morality problem. She wants go be a good girl and a good person. She doesn't have the faintest clue how. She continuously sacrifices her friends' welfare to save rapists and murderers. A girl pushes her down the stairs and she decides to help her even if it means the boyfriend she says she cares for is near death's door and needs her support. She is trying to save the vampire race despite the fact they enslave, torture and murder the residents of an entire town. She is painted as a caring heroine in this series but her behavior at best is that of a really stupid, morally challenged t--t, and at worst, a collaborator whose cowardice has completely suborned her moral sense. On top of all that, she is a slow thinking, clumsy elephant with a strong tendancy to masochism. This is SUCH a pile of defacated material.

Good story, but abrupt unfinished ending

I've enjoyed this series so far, but was very surprised, then disappointed when this one ended, completely unresolved. I even checked to see if I'd forgotten to download the 2nd half - but that wasn't the case. I imagine it was meant to be a cliff hanger - but instead it just feels as though the book stops for no reason. Many authors can manage to write series where each book still has a complete story - and this was true for the first two books of the series - but not this one. If this is the pattern for future books in the series - they've lost me as a buyer.

I am falling for this town

Narrator: Great
Story: Fun, imaginative, exciting
Characters: Spunky and realistic

I am so falling for this town and even though the residents seem a bit more abrasive? than your usual suburban citizens i think you will agree that it makes for a great story.

Already listening to the next book. :)

Fascinating story

I really like that Claire is learning Alchemy. She’s learning some really cool stuff from Mernon.

The battle between human and vampire in this town is getting intense.

One thing I don’t like about these stories is the sexual activity between the main characters. They aren’t even trying to remain pure. They are only making out in this book, but the loose passion is unhealthy for them and their readers.

Will a truce help young Claire & her friends?

There is a truce between the living and the dead, but not even that helps keep Claire & her friends to be safe!

Dead bodies are piling up, Eve's psycho brother Jason is stalking Claire, Shane gets shot, Sam is mistakened for Michael and gets staked, and Claire is being mentored by Mernin, an ancient vampire who seems to have a personality disorder that has him nice to evil in a split second.

When you think things can't get any more hectic, Claire's parents move to Morganville. What.?!!!!!

Listen, while Cynthia Holloway brings this book to life! Excellent listen❣️

Cliffhanger

The first book and this third book are cliffhangers. I'm not a fan. The story itself, however, is fun, interesting, easy to read, and all together enjoyable. The writing is tight. The characters are well-developed and likeable. The world is interesting and carefully thought out. I recommend this book and this series with the caveat.... you can't stop once you start because the story isn't done. I find that exhausting and irritating, personally, and I wouldn't have started the series had I known.

Great story

The Morganville Vampires series is one of my favorite. I’ve read the entire series all the way through many times. Rachel Caine is an amazing author. She pulls the ready into Morganville along with Claire. The four main characters are great. The stories are equal parts supernatural adventure, suspense, love story, and humor.
