Light, easy listen

Not sure what to say about this one. It was good. Not great, but good. I enjoyed it, but it's not a book that I would tell anyone "Oooo you HAVE to read this one now." I've heard the 2nd book is better, so I guess I'll read that one soon. I do enjoy a good dystopian future novel. It does have a good plot and is definitely an enjoyable audiobook to listen to at work.

Captured you from the beginning - interesting idea
Just loved this book so much. Keeps you going from the second you start until the ending. You don't want it to end and can't wait for the second book. Now I have read all 3 and just loved them. She did a great job and I loved the idea of these books. Writing was excellent. The narration was fantastic as it fit the charcters so well.

Amazing
Great story and performance! The only thing I didn’t really like was the added music randomly through the story at what seems are supposed to be “dramatic moments” and it was harder to understand the words of the story at those points.

Is the narrator ACTUALLY a 12 year old?
Oof, this narrator. She made the characters sound so young, that it sounded like they actually got a kid to do the narration, not just somebody who sounds like a kid. Seriously these 17 year olds having this whole dramatic story sounded like 10 year olds. The 10 year old little brother sounded like a 3 year old.
Other than that, it was your average, typical, dystopian/false utopian/love triangle story. Very predictable, VERY trope-heavy, but not awful. A decent story if you can get past knowing exactly what’s going to happen. Don’t expect any wild twists or turns. Maybe those will be in the next book?

I loved it, despite the mixed reviews
Any books that are about dystopian societies are a must listen in my opinion. I love this genre even if it's a bit formulaic at times. Throw in a good romance or love triangle and I am instantly hooked.
Although this wasn’t as great or as dark as some of the other’s in this category it was still a solid and enjoyable listen. If you like your dystopian novels more on the romantic side (Delirium, The Selection) then you will enjoy this one too. However, if you prefer them a little more on the action/adventure side (Divergent, The Hunger Games) then perhaps you should skip this one.
Overall I really liked this book and will continue with the trilogy. The narration was excellent and really made the story come alive.
