Take a deep breath!

Fantastic new addition!!! this book just rocked from beginning to end, this series keeps getting better and better.
A total vindication for Shane(I really didn't like him much until now) my man Myrnin... still Myrnin, and continues to be my favorite.
The phrase" just when I thought I was out.. they pull back me in"" has never been more fitting with action that barely lets come out for breath -before it draggs back in.
I loved, loved it.

Another Terrific performance by Cynthia Holloway, excellent job with all the different points of view.

Cynthia Holloway is perfection

I admit I was worried that this series had started to run out of steam after reading the tenth installment, Bite Club, but I’m happy to say that the latest Morganville book put my mind at ease. Last Breath offers lots of surprises, reveals, action and emotion that make it one of the most satisfying of the series so far. Literally no one is safe this time from Morganville’s latest threat where the twists just keep coming. I couldn’t have predicted any of the events that occurred this time around, and I love that Rachel Caine is taking so many exciting risks with her characters and providing such a juicy storyline this late in the series.

This time around in Morganville there’s a new threat that even has the vampires scared. Vampires are disappearing left and right and Amelie fears that the dreaded enemy that has hunted them for years has finally found them. It’s interesting to learn about this new threat and what makes it so powerful and lethal to everyone in Morganville. Claire, Shane, Eve and Michael are facing a huge challenge, and I was holding my breath to see how they would come out of it. Through multiple narrations of Claire, Michael, Eve, Shane and Amelie, we get more character reveals that give a new insight into our favorite Morganvillian’s. There is also plenty of Myrnin as well and he plays a key role in this book.

The characters go on quite a journey this time around. And the relationships they have built with each other and the other members of Morganville really make the events that occur that much more touching and meaningful. There is just the right amount of time spent with each character to move the story along and keep things interesting. The beginning of the book really threw me off track with how I expected the story to go, and the action just kept ramping up. There are plenty of emotional and romantic scenes though that balance out the drama and suspense. In fact, some of the biggest insights and vulnerabilities of the characters are revealed this time around.

This is the third installment I’ve read via audiobook, and I think this is now my favorite way to experience this series. The narrator, Cynthia Holloway, does an expert job with the characters. From Myrnin to Amelie, Claire to Shane, all of the character voices are distinct and believable. They match up very well to the character voices in my head, and the narration conveys the appropriate amount of emotion and intensity.

My favorite out of the series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes

Who was your favorite character and why?

All of them, each character has grown in their own unique way and its awesome to listen to Cynthia portray the characters, she does an amazing job!

Have you listened to any of Cynthia Holloway’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, she is the best choice for this series, she puts so much uniqueness into each character and their voice and emotions.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely YES!

Any additional comments?

I actually cried during "one" chapter in the book. The way it was written and portrayed had the tears flowing. I have never reacted to a book in such a way before. This is by far my favorite book out of the series.

Inexperienced?

Is it just my inexperience when it comes to audio books or was this one not so great? I mean I will be the first to admit that I have very little knowledge when it comes to audio books however this one kept making me cringe. Where I understand the need/want to change the voices for dialogue I felt that this one was over done. I really enjoy all of Rachel Caine's books and this is the first one I have ever purchased as an audio book from her but I found myself pausing it just so that I could take a break from the voice reading it to me. It is taking away from the story for me. I am going to have to purchase the actual written version of the book to get the most enjoyment out of it. I am very disappointed.

DNF. The author, that is

I do enjoy this series. This is the second time I’ve read this book from the beginning to the end. The story is not complete. It ends in the middle of Battle. The author DNF (did not finish) the book.

Regardless it’s well written. I like how Claire seems to always save everyone.

These young teens need to stop the profanity and sexual activity. I wouldn’t recommend this book to any young teens. This is not an example for them to follow.

Why

I absolutely love this series. I’m a dog groomer. So for 11 books I’ve listened to a book a day so excited for the next and this book just as amazing as the next and so ready to start the next but you changed the narrator and now the characters have completely changed voices and I hope I can finish the series but I’m already not so sure in the first chapter.

A good book with a HUGE let down.

I love everything about this series except the main characters Violent, angry, guy's guy of a boyfriend. They are textbook examples of dangerous toxic relationships. he constantly talks about looking for a good fight. no one really understands him but her. And he did get violent with her once, but he was using supernatural steroids to win fights and he only shoved her into a wall so she fell down. But don't fear, she knows he didn't do it on purpose. She even refuses to become a vampire cause her BF wouldn't love her anymore.
I have to skip some of the worst parts cause they rest of the book is AMAZING. great characters, interesting lore and back stories that slow burn sometimes.
