Publisher's summary

Griffin has a secret. It's a secret that he's sworn to his parents to keep and never tell. Griffin is a Jumper: a person who can teleport to any place he has ever been. The first time was when he was four, and his parents crossed an ocean to protect the secret. The most important time was when he was nine. That was the day that the men came to his house and murdered his parents. Griffin knows that the men were looking for him, and he must never let them find him.

Griffin grows up with only two goals: to survive, and to kill the people who want him dead. And a jumper bent on revenge is not going to let anything stand in his way.

Jumper is a major motion picture released by 20th Century Fox in February 2008.

Critic reviews

"This is a book that you won't want to miss. It reminded me of why I first came to love science fiction, and yet I didn't have to be 12 again to have a great time reading it." (Orson Scott Card)

Much to short

Seems like Gould just stopped writing the story just ceased. I needed some idea of why all that happened.

Feel free to read it - its not Impulse

Read Jumper and Reflex a year back - amazing books in first person that kept you hooked.
and then I read Impulse - the teenage when it shouldn't be series is watchable despite its many flaws of mixed agendas and bad characters, the BattleStar Galactica guy excluded!!-which I stopped at 1/3 of the book as it was bad in so many ways and not a follow up to reflex, don't know what the author was thinking or who the target audience he was aiming for. I also tried reading wild side which was a great idea but poorly executed- stopped at 2/5s of the book. So I was reluctant to read this one but...
Rejoice jumper fans as you can safely read this one!
Its not great but its good enough not to make you feel bored and follow through all the way.
Performance of narrator is great, and what kept me wondering about the character's actions come into conclusion into a self realization of what is going on in the end..I liked that as the hero answers my questions.
As people say its a bit different compared to jumper series with a few new stuff added into the jumper theory but I didn't mind at all. It is weird that to my understanding this was written so many years ago and there is no follow up!!
its not as deep as REPLAY by Greenwood which makes you think for days after, but it is highly entertaining and made my commute to work pleasant- one of the books that justifies audible

Hoping for more...

What a imaginative book, it truly keeps you "JUMPING"! I just couldnt stop listening. There are alot of sad parts, but "Griffin" keeps on going. I liked the detail of how a boy,on his own, could survive and then thrive using his special abilities. I cant wait for a sequel!

A great alternative to the original jumper book, interesting characters, good story, only thing is this book is too short...

Its easy to get lost in the world of jumpers!

Its easy to imagine what you would do with the ability to be any where you have been before instantly, but it is interesting to see how it is used by a young boy who watched his parents get murdered because of what he can do.

The narration of this book was great, I never once thought about the narrator because I was lost in the story itself, in my mind that is a good thing, because if I am thinking about the narrator then I am not paying attention to the story.

I would love to see a sequel to this book!

Does not follow the jumper universe.

Where does Jumper rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Griffin's story is great as a stand-alone book. I first read Jumper in paperback about 20 years ago, but listened to it on Audible after it came out. I picked up Griffin's Story when the movie came out and was surprised by the abandonment of the Jumper Universe. If there's a flaw in Griffin Story, it's in Steven's adapting his Jumper universe to match the movie (Jumper). This novel is not consistant in many details with the universe that appeared in Jumper and Reflex, both excellent books.

Would you recommend Jumper to your friends? Why or why not?

I recommend this book as a stand-alone novel to anyone who hasn't read Jumper.

What about Ted Barker’s performance did you like?

Good delivery, good voice, no complaints.

Any additional comments?

Definitely worth a credit.

A prequel worth it's weight

It's nice to visit the jumper world again. I love the depth this story brings. It really brings a more roundness to the storyline. The narration is also great for the story. A good overall experience if you like the jumpers.

not the movie but better

Everyone thought this was the movie. It's not. It's way better. Little more emotional compelling in general character developmen. t
