Peterson. Amanda Peterson. When my life suddenly turns into the Princess Diaries meets Mission Impossible, can I do in a week what I haven't managed to do in all my fifteen years - reel in a hottie?
When Amanda spends a week with her aunt, Christie, she learns that her aunt is a spy. Christie admits that Amanda has security clearance and has already started her training. When her aunt asks her to investigate a teenage hacker, Amanda thinks that spending time with a nerd should be doable despite her social ineptitude. Unfortunately for Amanda, the hacker is a hottie.

"Juli Alexander displays skill in this laugh-out-loud spy romp. With non-stop action and a budding romance, fans of the Gallagher Girls will love Investigating the Hottie." (Amanda Brice, author of Pointe of No Return)
Investigating the Hottie is the story of 15 year old Amanda Peterson and the fall break she spends with her Aunt Christie. Amanda thinks her aunt is a perpetual student. After all at 35, Christie does have 3 advanced degrees. Amanda is in for a shock when she finds out that Christie is actually a spy. While spending the break with Christie, Amanda is asked to do a little investigating work to help track down a teenage hacker. Amanda is all for it but becomes unsure of herself when she realizes that the hacker is a hottie!
This is the second book of Ms. Alexander's that I have listened to. She really has a sense of the 'teenage voice'. The characters are well developed and the mystery is fun.
Ms. Jacobs again comes through with great narration. She also has a handle on the 'teenage voice'. Ms. Jacobs draws you into the story with her ability to give each character their own voice. She also does well with the pacing and emotions.
I would recommend this book to anyone 13+ years and older. The story is good and the characters are engaging. I would listen to this one again.
I'm a big fan of Juli Alexander's work. My favorite thing about her stories, is she creates great female characters who are strong, know who they are, and ultimately great models for young girls to look up too, while still having a fun entertaining plot.
This book is no exception. Enjoying reading the book, I was delighted to find there was now an audio version of it.
Listening, made the story even better. The narration brought out the fun loving humor in the book in ways I hadn't thought possible and made the story come alive.
I highly recommend this book. The story is fun… almost an older Harriet the Spy, going through the trials and tribulations of high school. Rachel Jacobs' narration is fabulous. Perfectly suited for Amanda Peterson.
I hope to hear more audiobooks from Juli Alexander's collection. It is a wonderful enhancement to her work.
