Publisher's summary

One choice can transform you - or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves - and herself - while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable - and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

New York Times best-selling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

Artistry at it's finest

First off the score is now tied.

Next the audio, Emma Galvin does an absolutely amazing job with the narration of this book. When Tris was high I was laughing out loud. When Lynn thanks Tris I cried. Thank you to Emma Galvin for making this book her Frankenstein.

Finally, the book... Can I just say that Veronica Roth is brilliant? Although I had inklings of how the book was going to end I didn't believe my own thoughts. The relationship between Tris and Tobias was raw and real, not flowers and sparkles. The emotions that seep through the characters and let us into their hearts and minds was incredible. This book was absolutely amazing. I want to listen to it all over again right now.

Damn you Veronica Roth for forcing me to wait another year for the next installment.
Veronica Roth:2 Jess:1 - the score is no longer tied

"People I've discovered are layers and layers of secrets. You believe you know them, that you understand them, but their motives are always hidden from you, buried in their own hearts. You will never know them, but sometimes you decide to trust them." - Insurgent

Well done!

What made the experience of listening to Insurgent the most enjoyable?

Emma Galvin really made the characters come to life for me.

Any additional comments?

This was my first audio book experience. I really enjoyed listening while I commuted to work and traveled. I will be listening to more audiobooks in the future.

The book was written in a way that captured my attention to keep listening. I would find myself at my destination, not wanting to stop listening because I wanted to hear what happened next.

I have already purchased the next in this series.

must listen

I love this book. I even like it more than the first one, and I liked the first one a lot. The way it's performed and written I feel like I can see the world the characters live in. I can't wait for book 3.

For the first time, I like the movie better

The movie doesn't even follow the book. but for a first time that's not a bad thing. The book just took too long to get to somewhat of the same conclusion. Although I can't figure out which plot I enjoyed more. The movie took a totally different route than the book in a lot of ways and it wasn't just for time. I don't understand why some things were left out of the movie like Tobias and his father being divergent. And I have no idea how they came up with the whole box and passing for simulations to open the box. Just has no place in the book.
