Publisher's summary

The Adderhead - his immortality bound in a book by Meggie's father, Mo - has ordered his henchmen to plunder the villages. The peasants' only defense is a band of outlaws led by the Bluejay - Mo's fictitious double, whose identity he has reluctantly adopted. But the Book of Immortality is unraveling, and the Adderhead again fears the White Women of Death. To bring the renegade Bluejay back to repair the book, the Adderhead kidnaps all the children in the kingdom, dooming them to slavery in his silver mines unless Mo surrenders. First Dustfinger, now Mo: Can anyone save this cursed story?

Ink trilogy

The series was fantastic and the story incredible. I do wish they kept the same narrator for all three books as each person performed differently.

Well written but dark

This series has a fascinating premise and is well written. There are interesting characters and moving action. But the overall feel of the story seemed depressing to me. Most of the time it seemed hopeless, even though it all turned out in the end. I would live the author to play with these same concepts but in a more lighthearted way.

Different narrator & it would've been great

I absolutely love the set but they really needed to have someone else read the book. Understandable it falls under a children's book, but it needed more feeling behind the words, more braun.

Prefer Brendan Fraser's narrating but..

This was well done and an enjoyable listen. Cannot wait for the newest one this year!

great book, lousy voices!

The story was as spellbinding to me as the last two, but to not have Brendan Fraser as the narrator was a major disappointment!!! I'm sure Mr. Corduner is good with other works, but he didn't even TRY to match the voices Brendan had established in the previous books. The Black Prince had a high wimpy voice, Fenolio was suddenly changed from New Yorker-ish to Russian, Orpheus went from Southern to British, Roxanne and Brianna went from French to the same general part of the world as Fenolio! Very frustrating. It even made me hate hearing Meggie after a while; she was so whiny and nasally. On the plus side, he did well with Eleanor; she was annoyingly whiny and nasally already! Sigh. Please get Brendan back for any more or at least someone similar!

Cornelia Funke's Masterpiece

The inkworld held me spellbound to the end. Rarely have I read such a thrilling and satisfying conclusion to a trilogy. The Adderhead and the Piper are definitely up there with Sauron and Saruman among the most evil adversaries of all time, but even the smallest characters all have a distinctive voice and character. Beware, this is not a light-hearted children's book, but shows a mature understanding of what makes men evil and the touch choices we all make in trying to do the right thing. Highest compliments also to the reader, who does an amazing job of giving every character a believable voice and who held me spellbound along with the story. Highly highly recommended for fantasy fans - and the best part - 2 of the evil characters are still alive at the end, leaving room for a sequel, which will come soon I hope!! (are you reading this Cornelia?)
