Wow

As I listened to the story of Mary Jemison, it felt as though I was a captive myself. The details and narration make this story very real. Well done. I wished that it told more of her adult life. I’m sure her first years as captive were the most difficult and had the greatest impact on her adult life though. Very good read if you’re ready to experience the fierce emotions that will follow.

Favorite Childhood Novel ♡

You won't be able to put this book down... Great historical novel. Timeless story. I've read it at least five times and it never gets old.

Interesting Story, I have a few concerns

Very well written. Beautiful style and vivid imagery. The characters where realistic and well written, they all felt so authentic.

In the prolog the author basically tells you the whole story, so it was slightly spoiled for me since I knew how Molly’s life would turn out.

My biggest concern was how the author made it sound as if “the Great Spirit” and God were the same person, as Molly was just seeing him in a different way and as if he was just

Way Bettter than a Movie!

I love stories like this, and had heard part of this one before. Thought I would be sorry the story ended in her childhood, but turned out I wasn’t. Well told, suitable for any age. Explains some of our not too clean roots.

Excellent story

My pre-teen kids and I listened to this story. The narrator was great and the story itself was fascinating and compelling.

Rough but necessary

Upon finishing this story, I still have mixed feelings. This would definitely be a good discussion book. In the end, there is no right answer. There is no way of pure happiness, contentment, or lack of pain. One could definitely argue for one side or the other, but nobody is really correct in the end or the overall.

The narrator did well with the overall story. I found the juvenile whine of Molly a bit hard at times, because even my own adolescent girls do not speak in such a way, but it was understandable and didn’t really deter too much.

I read this upon recommendation from Sonlight Core 100 with American Historical Fiction. I own a paperback copy and an Audible book.

Wonderful!

I've read this book about 3 times in paper back form and just got the audio version so I could work on things and still have a book. I love that the narrator changed her voice for characters and it made the book all the greater!

Excellent!

Educational, Well - Written, Fantastic Narrator. Although fictional, this is based on a real life story. After listening to it myself, I used this as homeschooling curriculum for my 7 year old daughter. There are so many hidden educational gems in here about everything from the conflicts between the Native American tries, white sellers and the French, to the way that cross were planted, cared for and harvested, fires created, babies raised, health needs, etc. We love it and I highly recommend it!
