Publisher's summary

Nine of us came here. We look like you. We talk like you. We live among you. But we are not you. We can do things you dream of doing. We have powers you dream of having. We are stronger and faster than anything you have ever seen. We are the superheroes you worship in movies and comic books but we are real.

Our plan was to grow, and train, and become strong, and become one, and fight them. But they found us and started hunting us first. Now all of us are running. Spending our lives in shadows, in places where no one would look, blending in. we have lived among you without you knowing.

But they know.

They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
And Number Three in Kenya.
They killed them all.

I am Number Four.

I am next.

Also included is a sneak listen to the first chapter of the next book in the series. Enjoy!

Climax after climax in this action novel!

What made the experience of listening to I Am Number Four the most enjoyable?

I liked the combination of teen angst and alien beings. It reminded me of the TV series

What other book might you compare I Am Number Four to and why?

TV series

Which scene was your favorite?

Just enough foreshadowing to let you in on some of the mystery. The dog is a good example of this.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did not like his voice for # 4. I thought it should be more mature - like Mark's.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed this teen novel very much even though I am a grandmother.

Interesting concept similar to the batman , super girl story

Being a dc comic enthusiast, I do like these storylines although not original. The performance was well done

Very repetitive at times, but good story

liked it, but mentions global warming and destroying our planet. Then changes direction and the bad aliens destroy the planet. Was global warming plan B ? just in case the alien invasion failed? I wouldn't listen again and glad it was on sale

I saw the movie and wanted to read the book.

Would you try another book from Pittacus Lore and/or Neil Kaplan?

I'm not sure I would. this book was YA and while I can sometimes enjoy that genre I found this one to be somewhat slow. the development was laborious and I kept waiting for the fateful aliens to come down and finish off"4". It just moved way too slow for me.

Would you recommend I Am Number Four to your friends? Why or why not?

Probably not. I might tell them to read it if they saw the movie but I would tell them that the set up is long and the action slow.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I enjoyed the story of an isolated young man coming into manhood and having his first real relationship. Those stories are always sweet and romantic.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

I did see the move. I remember the movie being mildly entertaining as well. I would give that a 3 star rating too. for the same reasons.

Any additional comments?

Worth reading if you can get past the long set up.

FANTASTIC - OUT OF THIS WORLD!!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES!

Any additional comments?

If you enjoyed the Hunger Games, Ender’s Game or are a fan of super heroes, I highly recommend this series. If you take interest in dystopian worlds, aliens, or YA novels, you should give this series a chance. Superheroes. Aliens. Teamwork. Coming of Age. Action. Page Turner.

Entertaining, yet shallow

This is first and foremost a YA book, and one that is destined to the insecure and angsty teen prototype. The romantic subplot felt undeserved at first (it was then developed a bit more) and the main plot was flooded with deux ex machina. It was an entertaining listen, and there were many good points were the tension was spot on and the writing was superb. However, most of the time it was boring and the story felt like a filler for itself.

The narration by Neil Kaplan I liked. It was more of an acting performance than a reading, but I think it went very well with this book, adding to the personality of the characters and making us care a lot more about them.

Finally, I don't know if the author, Pittacus Lore, likes his own name very much or if he created his pen name after writing this book, but it was definitely odd to see him mentioned throughout the story).

good story, but horrible narration

I enjoyed the story, although it was predictable. the narration was lousy. any time a secondary character was voiced, it sounded like something from a cartoon.

Held my interest.

An amazing tale, well narrated and surprisingly better than expected. Not my typical genre for reading, yet I hope to enjoy The Power of Six just as much.
