Publisher's summary

I must be brave.

I must do what has to be done.

I am Alice.

Alice is the most powerful witch the county has ever seen. She may one day be the most evil. But Alice is also the best friend - and true love - of Tom Ward. Together they work to defeat the Fiend - the world's greatest evil - once and for all.

They have nearly everything they need, all except a blade hidden in the Dark, the Fiend's domain. So Alice ventures there to find it. She faces the most terrifying creatures in existence. And she once again battles old enemies who bear grudges: Bony Lizzie, Bloodeye, and more.

And there's something Tom didn't tell her. To vanquish the Fiend, Tom must sacrifice the person he loves most. Alice is hunting for the very blade that will eventually kill her.

another great book. but terrible narrator.

I love hearing a point of view from Alice but Gorthals is possibly the worst narrator I've ever heard from a popular series on audible. listening to her was like slogging through a textbook on tape. no emotion, no inflection at all. it would have been much better just leaving Welch to do it as he did all the past books.

Great story!

I like the story. Wonderfully put together, but Angela gets a bit monotone at times. I had to shake myself awake a bit listening to her...

performance was poor, poor, and poor...

If I could give the narrator no stars I would she was very slow monotone didn't sound like she was actually enjoying doing the story. I've listened to over 200 books and this is the first time that I have ever put anything in remarks besides the ratings. she was a real disappointment.

Delaney keeps it going

If you could sum up I Am Alice in three words, what would they be?

Great extension

Which character – as performed by Angela Goethals – was your favorite?

Bony Lizzy - Angela really came alive when narrating the witches.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes

Any additional comments?

This is a great extension to the Spook series. Delaney takes into the dark with Alice while also going into Alice's back story. I think he wrote Alice a little too much like Tom in this book. I feel Delaney makes her more timid in 1st person as opposed to when he writes he in 3rd person but still an awesome character. As far as narration goes - I felt that Christopher Evan Welch reads a better Alice but Overall Angela did a good job, she really did great on all the other characters just a little blase with Alice. Story was excellent though and I am already looking forward to the next one!

Good book, meh narrator

to make the narrator tolerable, I spend her up to 1.25.
painfully slow reader otherwise.

Perspective

The female narrator is honestly not bad just give it 3 or so chapters and you might find the switch nice for this perspective of a different character

Superb Book

This entire series has been an incredible journey. I love Alice in this series. She's brilliant, aunt, smart, caring, and so much more. I was in the Dark with her the entire way. Heart ache yet again though for Alice. Thank you Joseph Delaney for these phenomenally written books.
