Relistening to a great book

i absolutely adore the House of night series so I have been re-listening to them the last few months. Love the stories, love the narrator. These authors are great when writing together!!!

The books just got worse and worse...

Let me start off by saying that Caitlin Davies is amazing and that she was the only good thing about this entire series. Despite The House Of Night series having way too many generic and stereotypical characters, Ms. Davies made it very easy to tell who was who even when the story itself wasn't even sure. However a good narrator is no replacement for lack of a story plot.
While reading this series (starting with Marked) I thought the plot would be fairly decent and would play into the story well despite the generic Cliché of absolute good vs absolute evil with no real backstory on either or why "good" was good and why "evil" was evil. I kinda liked the Mary Sue named "Zoey" in the beginning and was kinda sad when her generic best friend had more personality than the cookie cutout of a main character. Like most generic "Chosen Ones" story line, the main character some how got the hang of the entire 'Magick' deal while being freshly thrusted into her new role and somehow became better than those who've spent years/decades learning the ways of Natural Magick.
My biggest disappointment would have to be the whole "vampire" thing. THIS BOOK IS NOT ABOUT VAMPIRES AT ALL. Instead this uses more of the modern Wiccan religion and just added some super powers to make it flashy. There is zero traces of any of these characters being vampires! The closest we get is when the main character needs "feeding" aka drinking blood. But this has nothing to do with the story either, Mary Sue drinking blood is just another excuse to cause relationship problems between Mary Sue and which every guy is closest to her at the time.
The real thing that killed this story for me is the simple fact that this story isn't about Vampires, absolute Good VS absolute Evil, Teens vs Adults, Chosen Ones, or even about the ever-so-lame and ever-so-popular "female power" - INSTEAD this book is nothing more than 2,968 pages dedicated to nothing more than a love triangle between Mary Sue and EVERY SINGLE GUY she comes across!! Literally, every guy this main character comes across falls deeply in love with her except for a half human, half bid boy who is left to her "undead" best friend.
With all that said, this is one of the worst stories I have ever read. Reading this series almost broke up a book club and friendships because it was so bad.

Followed since the first book!!

Where does Hidden rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Hidden was one of the better audio books I have gotten so far. The characters were well defined with the narrator and the feeling of the book was just like it was when I read the hard copy

Who was your favorite character and why?

Stevie Rae will always hold a special spot in my heart for her compassion

Total Snoozefest.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I have no idea what could improve this book. The characters are engaging, but the series has gone on far too long. End it already and call it good.

Has Hidden turned you off from other books in this genre?

No of this genre, but deffinately of this author.

What about Caitlin Davies’s performance did you like?

Great voice.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Hidden?

Sadly, all of it.

Any additional comments?

Don't waste a credit on this.

Narrator brings life to the story

Sooo happy Caitlyn Davies is the narrator for the past couple books and this one as well! Her talent (as heard in other books) brings the story to life!

This was one of the best so far

The ending of this book had me in tears, so beautifully written and preformed. I love the wrapping together of previous plot points through the series with this specific book.

I want this series to last forever.

this has been the best series I've ever listened to/read. I want it to last forever. too many people just want it to end... and say it's getting old.... it really isn't If you are as devoted to these characters and their lives as I've been.
