Three angels - Gabriel, the warrior; Ivy, the healer; and Bethany, the youngest and most human - are sent by Heaven to bring good to a world falling under the influence of darkness. They work hard to conceal their luminous glow, superhuman powers, and, most dangerous of all, their wings, all the while avoiding all human attachments.
Then Bethany meets Xavier Woods, and neither of them is able to resist the attraction between them. Gabriel and Ivy do everything in their power to intervene, but the bond between Xavier and Bethany seems too strong.
The angels’ mission is urgent, and dark forces are threatening. Will love ruin Bethany or save her?

“The 17-year-old author’s angel mythology is solid . . . there never seem to be enough lengthy tomes to satisfy the legions of paranormal-romance fans, and this first title of a planned trilogy fits the bill.” (Booklist)
I'm a grad student with very little time to edit reviews because I'm editing research papers. Forgive the typos. They're made with love.
There are a few problems with this story that was about it get it rated 3 stars but then I read that the author was 17 years old. For a someone so young, she pulled it off. So I split this into two reviews to be honest about the book.
For Audience A: older kids and young teens or moms looking for something their kids can read. This is a lovely story about an angel who falls in love with a boy... without falling. It's cute, and it's guarded enough that it touches on subjects like sex but doesn't show any. Not much fowl language - I'd definately give this to my 13 year old neice.
For Audience B: anyone over 16 looking for a Twilight substitue. This is Twilight with wings... even down to the glittery pale skin. The plot is simple and the characters are a bit shallow... their course is too easy. I find it hard to believe that an angel without free will can so easily ignore a mission and do things she shouldn't- like fall in love with a human. There should be consequences but there are none. It bothered me that one of the angels was the archangel Gabriel. Like he had nothing better to do than go live as a music teacher in a high school. If it were another angel I wouldn't have minded. I also find it hard to believe that angels land in an area and live undercover to watch humans... that ruins the concept of guardian angels who do just that. It also bothered me that they did nothing until the deus ex machina of an ending.
For both audiences, please be aware of the Christian aspect of this book. It's not preachy, but prayers and talks about God do happen. Personally I think current authors trying to pull off a story about angels and keeping religion out of it seem a bit foolish, so this was okay with me. I know if I ran into an angel, fallen or not, I'd be pelting them with questions about Heaven, Hell, creation and everything.
The author read this herself. She did a good job, but I'd rather someone else do it unless the book is a biography.
This is a simple book. Its, as others have said, Twilight with angles instead of Vampires. The main character, Bethany, seems far too clueless and dependent on her human boyfriend. Overall I did enjoy it. Nice fantasy world to escape to for a few hours while I was at work. Once I found out that the author was only 17 when she wrote this book everything made more sense. Lol. Author is also the narrator, and I think she did a very good job. Her voice was enjoyable.
A beautiful and sweet love story, and I just couldn't stop listening to it! I can't wait for the next book. Alexandra Adornetto did a great job as the narrator.
This was so amazing that I could not sleep until I finished it. It held me captive and it was a beautiful love story that left me wanting more. I can't wait for the sequel, its going to drive me crazy having to wait so long.
I like to read VERY much .. I'm obsessed with reading I don't have time to actually read a book so I've been a listener for three years now
yes I would specially for teenagers , because the love story is so cute and I liked the way the story kept the relationship clean without the complication of physical attachment
well, I liked many aspects of the story .. specially the relation between her and Molly , though she loved Xavier she didn't sell her friend for anything
Xavier and Gabriel were the best performed characters by the author
When Xavier waited for Bethany in the cinema though she came very late .. I fell in love with him there
I was surprised when I saw all the bad reviews on this series and specially this book , I found it entertaining and good I didn't feel bored and the storyline kept me wanting for more .. thank you so much
Although the story is good, the way Bethany is written is so annoying!! she's another Bella Swan, just in an Angel form, it really annoys me! Bethany is my least favorite Character just like Bella was in the Twilight Series! Besides that, the storyline itself is pretty good.
I enjoy fantasy with a taste of reality I don't think i will ever find a book as good as the Twilight Saga however I will keep searching
I wanted more information, when the council gathered, after they approved the relationship it was no longer a serious story to me. it was treated to simply and childlike.
She shouldn't have read the book herself. Her voice is unpleasant and grating.
Her voice. She had such a whiny childish tone and I couldn't listen to it for very long. Turned me off to the rest of the series.
No. I didn't like this one.
Very slow, it didn't go anywhere!
It was poorly written!
I really gave this a soild effort. It truely was awful. I was looking for a good book to curl up with and lose myself in, it was a very rainy day, and I ended up very disapointed and stopped 1/3 way through!
