Publisher's summary

Morganville, Texas, is a small college town filled with quirky characters. But when the sun goes down, the bad come out. Because in Morganville, there is an evil that lurks in the darkest shadows---one that will spill out into the bright light of day.

Claire Danvers has had enough of her nightmarish dorm situation. The popular girls never let her forget just where she ranks on the school's social scene: somewhere less than zero. And Claire really doesn't have the right connections---to the undead who run the town. When Claire heads off campus, the imposing old house where she finds a room may not be much better. Her new roommates don't show many signs of life. But they'll have Claire's back when the town's deepest secrets come crawling out, hungry for fresh blood.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this to friends... It's so entertaining!

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love the main character, we can all relate to Claire right?

What about Cynthia Holloway’s performance did you like?

Ms. Holloway's tone and attitude matched the story PERFECTLY. Any other story, maybe not.

LoveLoveLove!

These books are the absolute amazing! They could've done a better job at picking a narrator though.

Read this series

I read the series and thought my husband might like to hear the story on road trips. Not so. He can't get past the narration. I knew the story was about teenagers, but when I read it I was able to make them more mature in my head. Well, with the narration it just isn't possible to get past the teen attitude.

Not That Great

Is there anything you would change about this book?

This book is really meant for older YA readers. Adults trying to listen to this book will likely struggle with the gaping plot holes. The characters themselves tend to be a little too one dimensional. I was interested in the series based on an a short story written about Eve but the series appears to be weak.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

The narrator's voice is unfortunately grating. It's high-pitched, slightly mechanical, and really, really distracting. The males all sound the same.

Was Glass Houses worth the listening time?

No, unfortunately, it wasn't.

Wanted to like it

It started off great and some fantastic characters in it but the action or love scenes can be painful. Example - The girl who is supposed to be genius smart acts like she has no brain when the author needs it to move along the story. I wanted to really like it as looking for a new series.

Enjoyed this Morganville Vampires YA novel

Keep in mind that I am a adult so some scenes are not suitable for all ages - bullies and their hanger-on ugly soul bully girls play a large part in the story. 16 year old high school grad heads off to collage where the high school bullies of the past pale in comparison with the collage version. Determined to succeed she sets out to solve her problems and ends up with 3 unlikely friends. Working out relationships amidst the vampire controlled population of Morganville provides fast pasted action and scary themes.
