Publisher's summary

He was tall, at least six feet, with dirty blond hair that hung over his eyes. His T-shirt read Nietzsche Is My Homeboy.

So, that was Matt. Who Julie Seagles likes. A lot. But there is also Finn. Who she flat out loves.

Complicated? Awkward? Completely.

But really, how was this freshly-minted Boston transplant and newbie college freshman supposed to know that she would end up living with the family of an old friend of her mother’s? This was all supposed to be temporary. Julie wasn’t supposed to be important to the Watkins family, or to fall in love with one of the brothers. Especially the one she’s never quite met. But what does that really matter? Finn gets her, like no one ever has before. They have connection. But here’s the thing about love, in all its twisty, bumpy permutations - it always throws you a few curves. And no one ever escapes unscathed.

Not deep, but surpsisingly addictive

I really enjoyed this story. I liked the characters from the start, and although I was pretty sure I had figured out the family's secret early on (and I had), it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book. I was quite addicted to the story while I was listening to it, and couldn't wait to get back to is when I would have to stop. It's not a deep piece of literature, by any means, but it's a good story with sympathetic and entertaining characters, and a love story that you can really believe and that makes you feel good.

Sweet Read!

This was a great story. I found it very hard to put down. The narrator was remarkable.
I do feel like we was left hanging a bit on the absent father. I kept wishing for a little more. Overall this was a fantastic read I would highly recommend.

I love Julia Whelan! Narrative magic!

Jessica Park is perfectly paired with this the pitch-perfect tones of the extraordinary Julia Whelan. A unique and audictive story of an heartbreaking tale. So many emotions grabbed and held me. As usual, Whelan’s vocal skills kept me entranced. How does she do it? She never fails to disappoint. Yes, Jessica Park, I did figure everything out. Still an enjoyable and extraordinary audiobook. Kudos to Park and Whelan, as well as Audible! Highly recommended!

Great story and finally a Narrator that was good

I have just recently started listening to audio books and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. This is the first book where I truly enjoyed the Narrator and didn't feel like they sounded goofy. I loved this story, it had allot of funny parts and I found myself actually laughing out loud. The narrator did a great job of playing out the different emotions without sounding ridiculous. Out of the 4 or 5 books I have now listened to I am most happy overall with this one.

Definitely for Teens

Wasn't quite sure what this book was all about, but it had great reviews and it was on sale, so I purchased it. I found myself fast forwarding through a lot of the first half of the story.
The last part is much better and at times really cute and funny. But still, definitely for Young Adults in High School and College.

Whoa!

5 Crazy Ass Must Listen Stars!!!!!

This book threw me for one hell of a loop there. Shocking twist, funny, dorky tees, quirky teen, cardboard cutout, tears shed and so much more. Holy brain cramp here!

Surprised to have really loved it!

What did you love best about Flat-Out Love?

That she ended up with the guy I (and I assume most) wanted her to end up with. I admit I purchased this one solely based on the ratings and the fact that it was on sale. I was very much pleasantly surprised to have liked this chick-flickish, quirky, and romantic story so much. Other than quirky, those aren't typically what I like in my books. Though a bit predictable, the story was very enjoyable and I could not put it down because I was so curious to confirm if my suspicions were correct. I suspect many readers felt the same way and I think a book that keeps me curious the entire time is always a good read. The Watkins with all their eccentricities and secrets are also very likable. Overall, I enjoyed it very much and would definitely recommend it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Finn and Matt. They are both very likable and charming characters in their own way.

Which character – as performed by Julia Whelan – was your favorite?

Finn.

Good book for a younger audience.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Readers under 20 would probably enjoy this book more than I, but, even after saying that, I did enjoy it. The narrator was good, the characters well-defined, and the story flowed very well.
