Publisher's summary

"Ninety-five days, and then I'll be safe. I wonder whether the procedure will hurt. I want to get it over with. It's hard to be patient. It's hard not to be afraid while I'm still uncured, though so far the deliria hasn't touched me yet. Still, I worry. They say that in the old days, love drove people to madness. The deadliest of all deadly things: It kills you both when you have it and when you don't."

Lauren Oliver astonished readers with her stunning debut, Before I Fall. In a starred review, Publishers Weekly called it "raw, emotional, and, at times, beautiful. An end as brave as it is heartbreaking." Her much-awaited second novel fulfills her promise as an exceptionally talented and versatile writer.

Also included is a sneak listen to the first chapter of the next book in the series. Enjoy!

Ooooooo I loved this book!!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Delirium?

Alex's rescue of Lena of course!!!!!!!!

Which scene was your favorite?

I really liked Lena's testing. Very smart and very telling of who Lena is.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Of course the ending destroys you. SO sad! But it just shows how lovely of a character Alex is.

Loved it!

This is another dystopian society young adult read. I'm not sure why they are so popular these days. Maybe because they are easy to imagine and one gets caught up in the story.
I sure did in this one.

It is touching, funny in some places even. But the story tells one of a world where love and hate are removed from the brain at around the age of 17. Any strong emotions that may cause chaos or deviate from a perfectly orderly society are gone. In essence, all the things that make us human.

Good read. I would recommend it and the follow up Pandemonium. The last of the trilogy is due out next month.

Main character is lame

Sorry, but this one wasn't for me. The main character is too bland, insecure and unquestioning. Eventually, she comes into her own, but is such an unlikely hero after all her years drinking the Kool Aid, that I wasn't buying her revolt.

I was not a fan of the performance by Sarah Drew.

The voices Sarah Drew used for Alex was distracting. I wasn't a fan of any of her voices for any of the characters. They didn't fit and seemed forced. I liked the story and want to know what happens.

interesting new take

New take on the distopian future idea. I personally prefer y.a. though I'm in my 30's. not so much sex and cussing (there is a little in this, but not bad). maybe a little predictable, but very entertaining. again, I like the new ideas presented.

I had no idea I would enjoy this as much as I did.

What made the experience of listening to Delirium the most enjoyable?

I thought this was going to be a teenie bopper book that my kids would enjoy but instead, I have listened to the whole thing and ordered the sequel.

Which character – as performed by Sarah Drew – was your favorite?

Sarah Drew performed this book wonderfully and as an actress, I don't say that easily.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listen to audio books while driving or running and I did more of both just to get a chance to listen more. I was disappointed when I got to the last chapter until I realized there was a sequel, yes thats how good it was.

Any additional comments?

This is a fun book. Just go with it and enjoy!!

That's how it ends??!!!

I rarely write reviews but was so disappointed in the ending that I felt the need to share. The narration was great and the story, definitely interesting. Up to the ending. It felt rushed and cut VERY short. The saving grace is that there is at least a second book, otherwise I may have screamed in frustration!

I wasn't sure about this book Delirium **spoiler**

Would you listen to Delirium again? Why?

The writing is excellent, but Sarah Drew, wow, she is an amazing talent

What did you like best about this story?

It was written so that the pictures unfolded in my mind like a detailed movie, but with me forming them in my head.

What about Sarah Drew’s performance did you like?

She has the ability to make you feel the character's mind race, to feel the energy as a character bounces on her feet, the lethargic, the negativity. She is a rare gift to the audio world

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did, both actually. This has to be one of the most well written YA books I've come across so far. I could visualize this society as it had become, so strange, and my heart hurt for Lana as she realized the reality of it. Almost as if being drawn into the lies and then triumphant when she starts breaking through them.

Any additional comments?

I look forward to this series and most likely listening to it again, which is not common for me.

Solid YA and great Narration

Set in a dystopian future where love is outlawed and as a deadly infection. The Audiobook version narrated by Sarah Drew is well done, with emotion and feeling that brings Lauren Oliver's prose about first love to life with out being hokey. While I was reading it I didn' tknow if it was in a series so as I approached the end and the climax of the plot I wasn't sure what direction they were going to take with it. This book reminds me of The Uglies, The Pretties, The Extras and The Specials series by Scott Westerfeld so if you enjoyed that 4 book series you will like this one as well.

Wow

At first I didn’t think I would like the story, but I was wrong! It keeps you sucked in the story until the very end. I like how the author describes everything in detail. How we really feel all the emotions going through the character. Anyways, I highly recommend this read!
