Publisher's summary

"Ninety-five days, and then I'll be safe. I wonder whether the procedure will hurt. I want to get it over with. It's hard to be patient. It's hard not to be afraid while I'm still uncured, though so far the deliria hasn't touched me yet. Still, I worry. They say that in the old days, love drove people to madness. The deadliest of all deadly things: It kills you both when you have it and when you don't."

Lauren Oliver astonished readers with her stunning debut, Before I Fall. In a starred review, Publishers Weekly called it "raw, emotional, and, at times, beautiful. An end as brave as it is heartbreaking." Her much-awaited second novel fulfills her promise as an exceptionally talented and versatile writer.

Also included is a sneak listen to the first chapter of the next book in the series. Enjoy!

I was bored at first

I almost let this book go. I just couldn't get into it at first. But I decided to give it a chance because I'm not really one to abandon books and I listen to audiobooks at work to pass the time. It's pretty interesting but honestly not in my top 5. It's only the 1st book so Maybe the next one will be better

One of my favorite books - a complete surprise

What did you love best about Delirium?

This was a huge surprise for me - I've listened to hundreds of audio books and picked this up on a whim because it was on sale. It ended up being one of my favorite books to date. The concept was interesting and the characters were engaging. The story is a crazy mix of Hunger Games, Romeo and Juliet, and 1984 - three books that one would never expect to be mentioned in the same review but it somehow came together.

Overall the story has a lot of layers and you can spend hours thinking about how this books reflects on what's going on in today's world.

Any additional comments?

The narration was excellent. Sarah Drew could not have been a better pick.

Good; interesting, although typical dystopian YA

What did you love best about Delirium?

Interesting premise.

Have you listened to any of Sarah Drew’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Much better than some of the others. Her other voices (secondary characters) don't sound as drunk/high as previous audio books I'd listened to with Drew as the narrator.
Her voice is very pleasing and she does a great job narrating and speaking for the main character.

Any additional comments?

It was a pretty typical YA dystopian novel. I'd just read the Uglies series, so it was A LOT like that. I think I'm on dystopian overload right now.
However, it kept me interested and I liked it enough that I will be getting the next book.

A Little Boring in Sections But GREAT!

Where does Delirium rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's behind "Iced" but I'm partial to Karen Marie Moning. Definetly number 2 so far.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Delirium?

The end...followed by her relationship with her best friend. Reminds me of me and my BFFs

What does Sarah Drew bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Great character personality and emotion into the words, however I wish they has someone else play Alex...she still sounds like either a girl or a 9 year old boy. It did nothing for my image of the hero.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me cry and immediately make a Facebook post....Still upset about the tears

Any additional comments?

I'm grabbing the second book right now.

This book is FANTASTIC!

Would you listen to Delirium again? Why?

Yes, because I feel like you get something new out of a book everytime you listen to it! There is action, suspense, mystery, and romance all rolled into one!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lena, the heroine, was my favorite character. She is a real human being who is terrified and wants to follow the rules, but ends up gaining the courage and strength she needs to make the right choice.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Even though it was an eleven hour book, my husband and I listened to it in only two sittings (we were on a road trip). This book was so great we would turn it on to listen even if we were just driving a couple of minutes away!

Any additional comments?

Sarah Drew did a great job performing the book. However, her voice is very high pitched and the male characters sounded very odd. The male protagonist kind of sounded like he was stoned during the entire book.

great writing but completely predictable

there were moments where I lived the writing so much that I didn't care that I could predict everything that was going to happen. however majority of the book left me beging for a bigger more deeper thing to happen. it didn't happen until the end which I predicted. the concept I this book is so amazing. I just wish it's were pushed even further and that characters were more relatable.

way too much inner monologue

I usually enjoy every YA book I get but this one was the worst so far. Not terrible but I don't think it's really worth a credit either. it's slow and the MC seems so dramatic and air headed it's clear halfway through that her best friend Hannah should've been the main character instead. Narration was decent.

Wow, it's good!

Ok, so as a guy, I'm thinking this is going to be another rehash of Romeo & Juliet, or The Unwanted, ir The Yellows, or takes your pick of future dystopian tales. But... it was riviting! Hope inspiring, with good allusions. Terrifying to consider humanity's greatest strength being characterized as its greatest weakness. Recommended!

After Finishing all 3 books.. no spoilers I promise!

After finishing all 3 books.. I have to say the Delirium trilogy will definitely go down down as one of my all time favorites. Lauren Oliver’s writing is soooooo good and descriptive and Sarah Drew’s narration is DELICIOUS. you need to listen to this series.. she truly makes Lena feel like a real person telling you this epic story. I will probably listen to the series again at some point in my life... very deep for YA. (I’m 26 for reference). you won’t be able to put these down, and you’ll miss them when they’re over.
