In New York Times best-selling author Darynda Jones's Death, Doom and Detention, the normal part of Lorelei MacAlister's life didn’t just slip away quietly the day Jared Kovach came to town. Nope. The normal part of her life shattered. It exploded. It burst into a gazillion shards of fleeting light. It went out with a bang. Goodbye normal. Hello dark and eerie.
While her best friend, Brooklyn, is focusing all of her energy on helping Lorelei hone her abilities, Lorelei is dealing with the reality that Satan's second in command has taken up residence inside her body. Oh, and the fact that she has a crush on the Angel of Death. But what a beautiful death it is. If those weren't bad enough, something sinister has come to town and it wants nothing more than to hear Lorelei's dying breath as it strangles it out of her. Thank goodness the gang has a supernatural champion. But what happens when the only being who can save them switches sides midstream? How can a group of misfits capture one of the most powerful beings ever created? And will they find out how to bring Jared back to them before it’s too late?

5 stars is i love and i will read agani and again. 1 is i hate and i never want to hear about it ever again. YES = :))) - NO= :'(
When you have a great and funny author and great narrator you get a fantastic result.
This what you get when Darynda Jones and Lorelei King give you a book to enjoy. Darynda is a great author in my opinion for many many reasons, especially her imagination and her sense of humor... i laugh so many times with every book she makes and thats one of the main things that makes her book great. and when you bring Lorelei to read these books, you can feel how she really brings these characters to life which is amazing!!!
Now the book and this series, when i started reading this series i was not that confident that it was going to be a good one, but then i thought i;ll take a chance and have a listen.. and damn i finished the first book in the first day i got it.... But this book is really good, you have everything established and you keep on thinking whats going on and what will happen... and you laugh through the whole book ... What more do you want other than that!!!!
Another good book with a good plot and enjoyable characters, can't wait to see Darynda Jones's next books.. she really has her special way to brighten your day.
If you didn't check Darynda Jones's other series... Then YOU HAVE TO, go check "Charley Davidson" series. Its damn great!!!!
Darynda Jones is by far one of my favorite authors and this book exceeded my expectations.
I love the dynamic between Cameron and Jared.
I love everything abut Lorelei King's performance! I don't know how she has time to voice so many of my favorite books, but I am very glad she does!
I laughed out loud quite a few times.
The only bad part about the book was that it ended. I am really looking forward to the next one and I don't know if I can wait until OCTOBER! :(
Creative, Genius, Spectacular
When Jared came back after being gone for several days and he was different (the light was gone). This had me floored! I was in shock and couldn't stop listening until I knew what was happening!
Lorieli, she is whitty, smart, loveable, selfless and delicate.
The premise of the story is great. The whole last prophet, angel of death thing is an interesting idea.
The supporting characters are great. I really like Cameron, Brook and Glitch.
I love Lorelei King and think she does a great job on all the characters except Lorelei. She makes Lorelei sound too old, but she does a nice job with the rest so I put her narration under the pros
Lorelei is a great big whiner. It sets my teeth on edge how much she whines throughout the book.
Lorelei has no redeeming qualities. I hate when the protagonist of a book is unsympathetic. I found there were times when I was rooting for the bad guys.
I wanted to like this book but I just couldn't. I dislike Lorelei because she spends the whole book wallowing in self pity. There are other books out there where the female protagonists are more likable, where they deal with their insurmountable obstacles with a little more grace.
I read Darynda Jone's Charlie Davidson series and while the first one needed a bit of work, the humour and characters improved through the series. But this series is a poorly written imitation of Twilight (also a book I would provide a poor review of).
Weak, whinny lead character with no spunk, painful, unbelievable relationship, poorly developed narrative.
Don't make my mistake and wait for the next Charlie Davidson book and ignore this series.
