Loosely based on the author's own childhood in south Texas, this story collection is a moving whirlwind of humor and insight - brash, tender, and full of the unexpected.

Crazy Loco is one of the novels in the Hampton Brown "Edge A" reading curriculum. The book is appropriate for my hispanic lower-functioning teenaged readers. While it is not gripping literature, it is amusing and it did teach me more about my students' cultural backgrounds.
Joe Rodriguez does a fine job with the performance.
The nine stories in Crazy Loco were very relatable to my six graders. The narrator's voice was captivating and impressive. At times if I felt our time was limited, I would be able to speed it up.
Since I read the entire book before my kids, I would set up the situations of each story. This way I accomplished having mature audiences as we listened attentively. Kids loved all nine stories.
They scored high in their accelerated reading quiz, and I was very proud of them. Very impressive audio book.!
