Love the Story<3 Naration could be better.

While Ms Quinn has a pretty voice, she does not have vocal diversity. I enjoyed the performances of Ari Graynor and Natalie Moore substantially more, and I truly miss Ed Westwick. He is fantastic!! I was disappointed he wasn't included for this recording.

Best Mortal Instruments book so far?

Where does City of Lost Souls rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Somewhere in the top 20.

What other book might you compare City of Lost Souls to and why?

There really isn't anything quite this good in new YA literature. Cassandra Claire is standing alone in this genre right now, but I love this series as much as I loved Harry Potter. The only current book that is remotely close to being as good as TMI is Daughter of Smoke and Bone.

Which character – as performed by Molly C. Quinn – was your favorite?

Simon is always my favorite character because "Existentialists Do It Pointlessly" and "Clearly, I've Made Some Bad Choices". I loved Ari Graynor who read City of Bones, but Molly Quinn is a close second. I think she nails Isabelle every time. I very much like that there are not two performers reading this book. I find it difficult to tell who the character is when there is more than one voice for one character. I do however have a problem with the pronunciation of the word "Stele". I don't understand why it is being pronounced "stēl'e"(long e) instead of "stele' " (short eh) which seems more appropriate. In the book Ms. Clare uses the phrase "steely blue" several times and I find it really frustrating that a Shadow Hunter tool (noun) is being used as an adjective to describe the color of the ocean. I guess it doesn't make any difference when you are reading the book, but it makes a big difference when you are listening to the book.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were several moments in this book that made me laugh out loud, yell, and feel ridiculously sad. ********Spoiler Alert************Spoiler Alert*************************************************************************************************************************************Alex and Magnus at the very end of the book made me really sad. The quizzical looks of Sebastian made me wonder if he's even partly human. Izzy's willingness to let Simon drink her blood made me love her even more. And I kind of hate Clary's mom.

Any additional comments?

I loved this whole book. I wouldn't ever wish that Cassandra Clare had written and single word different than she did.

One of my favorite from the series.

I of course absolutely love all of the books from the Mortal Instruments series but City of Lost Souls is without doubt my favorite one. I love the fued between Clarissa and her brother Johnathan. There fight at there fathers magical house, epic! Had me sitting up with very eager ears the whole time. His sick love for her was a twist that had me reeling. There bonding moments were just completely adorable and sad. Love every single word that I listened to.

Better

Ms. Quin's performance is improved from book 4. Less juvenile though she still stumbles over some pronounciations.

Great story, terrible narrator

Great book as always from Cassandra but the reader is just awful. She does nothing to distinguish her voice between characters making it really difficult to follow the story at times. Also she whispers and inflects at odd moments often killing the mood. To be honest, I wish I had just read the book instead.
