Publisher's summary

City of Fallen Angels take up where City of Glass left off. With Valentine out of the way, Clary thought she and Jace could finally be together--but when someone starts murdering the Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine's Circle and leaving their bodies around New York City in a manner designed to destroy the new peace between Downworlders and Shadowhunters, she realizes the past can never be left entirely behind. As the Shadowhunters scramble to find out what's really going on, Jace breaks off all communication with her, refusing to tell her why. Desperate to help him, Clary plunges into solving the mystery, coming ever closer to a secret whose revelation may mend her relationship with Jace--or rip it apart forever. Meanwhile, when Camille Belcourt, the elegant bloodsucker who used to rule New York's vampire clans with an iron fist, returns to the city determined to re-establish her control, a vampire war is born. Only Simon--the Daylighter who everyone wants on their side--can decide the outcome; too bad he's caught up in his own complicated love life and wants nothing to do with Downworld politics! Love, blood, betrayal and revenge: the stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.

WARNING: HORRIBLE NARRATORS

I was so excited for this book, but my excitement turned to disappointment when I heard the first narrator. Did anyone listen to this before it was released?? Obviously not. The voice the male narrator uses for Simon sounds sounds like a cross between a Brit with a sore throat and Marlon Brando in the Godfather. And the female sounds like a third grader giving an oral book report.

If I were not so busy, I would have just given up on this production, bought the hard copy, and read this AWESOME book the old-fashioned way.

The narrators!

I don't know what they were thinking using an awful British guy to reason Simon's story. Hello! Simon is not British! You can't understand half of what the guy says. The female narrator is just as bad. Doesn't she know how to do any voices besides a little girls? Jeez she doesn't even change tones from Clarey to Jace. I've listed to tons of audiobooks but these narrators have to be two of the worse.

HATE that female reader!

Any additional comments?

I just CANNOT get past that female reader to get through even three chapters of this book! Pretty bad when she pronounces stele as STEELY! Bring back the original reader! She was excellent! This one sucks!! I'm sorry I ever wasted a credit on this book! I can't listen to her!!! UGH!

Great Content - Horrible Narrators

I'm always sad when the narrator is changed mid series. You get used to the way the characters sound and know who is who. The switch here was doubling upsetting because the new narrators have no talent for audiobook narration. Ed sounds bored most of the time and Molly sounds like she is working so hard to enunciate each syllable. The worst part, however, was that Ed makes Jace sound like Sylvester Stallone in Rocky. It made me want to stop listening despite my love for the series.

The book content was great - I'm so glad Cassandra decided on doing another trilogy!

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE NARRATORS

This is a great story and a great series but these are the worst narrators ever. Bland and not even close to the character and very little differentiation.

Good store....Bad narrator

I don't know why the narrator was changed, but famous on the screen does not make them good at narrating. Ed's accent did not go with the character nor did he bring them to life. Molly used the same voice for every character and could not even pronounce most of the names in the store. I was really disappointed in the book mostly due to the narrators. I really hope the next book will go back to the prior narrator. If it's not broken don't mess with it.

City of Fallen Angels Writing Great/Narrators blah

I would have given this book a five star rating just for the content alone, but I was not impressed at all with the narrators.
As always Cassandra brings us such lively characters with humor, danger, love and pain. You cannot have light without dark. I love hearing from the various perspectives and not just Clary's. Oh and for those of you who loved Clockwork Angel there are teasers in this book for the next in the series of Clockwork.
With that said, I am personally going to go out and purchase the hardback novel. Reason : Again, the narrators are horrible. Their voices do not complement one another at all. Her voice is very shrill and his voice is very baritone. I truly feel that neither of them did this book/Cassandra's characters any justice. Through the majority of the book both readers are flat and do not create individual voices for the characters, everyone sounds exactly the same unless the character has an accent. After 4 books, Clockwork included, having been brought across so well by other readers, they fall short and make the characters and Cassandras writing flat. Suddenly have Simon, Jace and a new character Kyle are made to sound as if they are Rocky Balboa, I was truly waiting for "Yo, Adrian". At times when the three are having conversations you feel like your listening to the Mob and unless Cassandra has written in "Jace said" or "Simon said" then you get lost in who is saying what because they all sound the same. I understand they are from Brooklyn, but geez, Simon sounds like he is going to hop in the boxing ring at some points.
I will not even get too far into the female narration. There were points in the book that I truly felt as if I would have to turn it off. It was like listening to a whiny version of scratching you nails down a chalkboard. She too was one dimensional, flat and downright annoying.
Narrators ruined the book!

Just a note : If I had my choice I would have called the couple who read for Shiver, by Maggie Steivatter.

Ciity of Fallen Angels

Great story, trouble with the narration. Ed Westwick is a fabulous Narrator- not so much Molly Quinn. Boring- Too young a voice, with very little inflection. Characters run together, all sounding the same. She also mispronounces words. Mr Westwick has a soothing voice, and his mastery of characters is fantastic. If not for him I couldn't have finished listening.

Hmm...

Would you be willing to try another book from Cassandra Clare? Why or why not?

Honestly, I'm not sure.

Was City of Fallen Angels worth the listening time?

No.

Any additional comments?

Ok, so this is like my fifth time trying to type up a review for City of Fallen Angels (so frustrated with my computer), so that might have a little bit to do with the negativity of this review. (Not all of it though)

I was not impressed with this book. It was so full of drama. Stupid drama. If two people love each other as much as Clary and Jace claim to, they don't keep stupid secrets because they think the other person won't understand. They say they believe in each other, but won't even consider that the other won't judge them based on stupid things. Like, "I'm having bad dreams, and I just can't tell Clary because it'll prove to her that I'm a bad person. So, instead, I'll treat her like dirt and ignore her." Stupid drama. I hate when a book uses alternating perspectives just to make up misunderstandings that wouldn't have been there anyway.

I'll be the first to admit that brooding can be super hot in a guy. (think Angel in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. sigh.) However, it just doesn't look good on Jace. Neither does whinyness. It probably wouldn't have been so bad had I not had to read from his perspective.

Another negative: not very much Luke. Luke became one of my favorite characters in the last book, and I was hoping to see more of him.

It also frustrates me when it seems like the author just keeps thinking, "How could I make these miserable people even more and more miserable?" "Ok, I'll write that." And it doesn't seem like that's going to end any time soon based on the ending of Fallen Angels.

Overall, I think this one burnt me out on the primary characters' storyline. However, I found the secondary characters' stories to be relatively intriguing. Simon keeps getting more and more interesting. His concerns and worries are actually legitimate, and I found myself pulled into his story. I liked Maya and Isabel more in this book too. If it weren't for Simon, I don't think I would even consider picking up the next book. (And this would have gotten a 1 star rating.)

I see all the 4 and 5 star reviews on Amazon, and I wonder if maybe I just zoned out and missed the good parts. End rant.

Horrid Horrid ... did I mention HORRID narration

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I should have listened to the prior reviews. Good story, horrible narration - squeaky girl with no inflection in her voice (almost sounds like she's perpetually depressed). Whispery, poor phraseology and NO inflection. HATED this book because of it.
Guy who read was certainly boring but not like her.

What did you like best about this story?

The story line was good.

Would you be willing to try another one of Ed Westwick and Molly C. Quinn ’s performances?

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

Could you see City of Fallen Angels being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No

Any additional comments?

Please don't waste your money on anything ready by Ed Westwick or Molly C Quinn! Save yourself the money for a well narrated (or even fairly well narrated) book.
