Publisher's summary

City of Fallen Angels take up where City of Glass left off. With Valentine out of the way, Clary thought she and Jace could finally be together--but when someone starts murdering the Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine's Circle and leaving their bodies around New York City in a manner designed to destroy the new peace between Downworlders and Shadowhunters, she realizes the past can never be left entirely behind. As the Shadowhunters scramble to find out what's really going on, Jace breaks off all communication with her, refusing to tell her why. Desperate to help him, Clary plunges into solving the mystery, coming ever closer to a secret whose revelation may mend her relationship with Jace--or rip it apart forever. Meanwhile, when Camille Belcourt, the elegant bloodsucker who used to rule New York's vampire clans with an iron fist, returns to the city determined to re-establish her control, a vampire war is born. Only Simon--the Daylighter who everyone wants on their side--can decide the outcome; too bad he's caught up in his own complicated love life and wants nothing to do with Downworld politics! Love, blood, betrayal and revenge: the stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.

What happened?

Have loved all the other books so far, but the narrators for this book were totally wrong. Ed was extremely hard to understand at times, and how strange it was to suddenly have a British accent. I lived in England for over 3 yrs and still had trouble. Molly was better, but still not as good as the original. If it had been the first book I would had traded it back without finishing it, but once I forced myself to just concentrate on the story, it was another great book.

Great story not a fan of narration in this one

Title says most of it. Ed westwick has a certain charm to his voice, but Molly’s voice comes through as shrill, but flat with no real inflection. I do a lotando driving and found myself reading this more at home than listening to it.

Ed Westwick 😍

I love all of Cassandra Clare's books. Ed narrates wonderfully, the book would have been perfect if it was just his voice and not the girls.

Narrated by...Too-cool Brit & Preteen girl?

Love the story, hate the narrators. Worst narrators I've experienced on audible so far. The male voice is a middle-aged British man who may or may not smoke a pack a day. He sounds like he's trying to be cool, so his narration gets lazy and slurry like he's drunk. The female voice is an extremely monotone preteen. Every. Character. She. Reads. Sounds. Exactly. The. Same. She sounds pretty young too. I just picture her as a little middle school-aged girl when she reads--which is a terrible fit for someone reading through some of the more mature content in the story.

If you can get past the terrible narration, the story is still quite wonderful. If you can't get past awful, annoying voices, skip the audiobook and just read the book.

Love Ed Westwick's voice!

Would you listen to City of Fallen Angels again? Why?

I loved the storyline of this book. Ed Westwich was a great narrator, Molly C. Quinn wasnt. It was hard listening to her parts of the book. Her voice doesn't flow, it's very choppy. I also didn't like that they don't use the same pronunciation for certain names and things as they did in books 1-3, that was a bit frustrating.

Have you listened to any of Ed Westwick and Molly C. Quinn ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've never listened to Ed Westwick before but I will listen again. Molly Quinn is a narrator that I'll avoid after listening to the last book of this series.

Any additional comments?

Simon played a bigger role in this book. It keep the plot interesting. Another wonderful book by Mrs. Clare.

writing skills improve but story lags

the 2 reader approach is better than the 1st three audio books. But the Male reader for Simon is much better than Clary's reader

On the fence

I really like the series but I do not like the inconsistency in the narrators and how the characters are portrayed as a result of it. The first book started with the shadow hunters having English scents. In the next book that disappeared.

Great narration and series!

I’ve read the series in book form and now going through again in audio this time. There are so many negative reviews in regards to the narrators and I have to say I don’t agree. I felt like they did a fantastic job. I have listened to a lot of audio books with terrible narrators, these two do not fit that category. Excellent series, I highly recommend anything by Cassandra Clare and the Shadowhunter world.
