Publisher's summary

City of Fallen Angels take up where City of Glass left off. With Valentine out of the way, Clary thought she and Jace could finally be together--but when someone starts murdering the Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine's Circle and leaving their bodies around New York City in a manner designed to destroy the new peace between Downworlders and Shadowhunters, she realizes the past can never be left entirely behind. As the Shadowhunters scramble to find out what's really going on, Jace breaks off all communication with her, refusing to tell her why. Desperate to help him, Clary plunges into solving the mystery, coming ever closer to a secret whose revelation may mend her relationship with Jace--or rip it apart forever. Meanwhile, when Camille Belcourt, the elegant bloodsucker who used to rule New York's vampire clans with an iron fist, returns to the city determined to re-establish her control, a vampire war is born. Only Simon--the Daylighter who everyone wants on their side--can decide the outcome; too bad he's caught up in his own complicated love life and wants nothing to do with Downworld politics! Love, blood, betrayal and revenge: the stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.

Good story awful reading

Westwick was excellent, but Quinn was terrible. Both her voice and her acting were atrocious. She pulled me out of the story every time she spoke.

can we PLEASE decide on an accent/pronunciation?!

I know I know, another complaint about narration. I've actually (for the most part) enjoyed all the narrator's until this book. and I like that there is both a male and female narrator in this one (I wish all books did that - we can't all be Davina Porter or Jim Dale! 😂) In this book the male narrator kinda has a british-esque accent and I just want to scream they're all in NY!! sheesh! also, can we please agree on how to pronounce "stele"? I preferred the "steh-lay" of the last book(s?) rather than steel-ee of this book and the 1st. 😬

I love it

It is a very good book but when the Clary part comes up to and the jace Parts come up when they're talking To each other I think it should just be clarie's voice and then another guy playing the voice of chase during the book But it is very good book I love it I can't wait to hear the other 2 books And see what happens

narration killed the vibe

Producers made unfortunate choices. The story is moving on, the characters are maturing, so the narration should-at the very least- be consistent. The female narrator had way too young of a voice and the male narrator was inconsistent with his accents. (all of a sudden the boys have think New York accents?!) Words were pronounced differently than the previous books. it is also a big pet peeve of mine when a series suddenly switches from a single narrator to a male-female duet, it is jarring.

Good Story Bad Narration

The story was good and continued the plot from the first 3 books. But the narrators left a lot to be desired. The male narrator was awful. He’s attempt at a female voice was awful.

Terrible Narrators

Do the narrators not listen to the previous books?? I hate it when they pronounce things different! They are both terrible at acting the voices too. They both sound so sad and have no range whatsoever. It was painful to listen to.

Good story but not good choice of narrators

I've read the book and enjoyed it very much. This time as audiobook I had problems following the story due to narrators.

Disappointment....?

I listened to this book for the first time a few years ago. It was not my favorite of the series then and I wasn't sure why. It took me forever to get through the book the first time and that is unusual for me with TMI books. I had decided to listen to the books again before the final book comes out later this year. Once I got to this one I figured out what it was about it that I didn't like the first time around. The narrators are just bad. Clare did her job as usual but who ever made the decided that they needed to people that looked like Clary and Simon to do this was just wrong wrong wrong. Ed Westwick is just bad. I think I would not be able to listen to another book by him. I hope I never have to.
Cassandra Clare did a great job with the story. I just love every novel she writes. The story is good, the new characters are good, I could deal with less of the teenage love issues, but that is me. I'm glad to listened again.

Weakest Story and Narration To Date

How could the performance have been better?

I find it very distracting that there is little continuity between the narrations of this series in regards to pronounciations. I thought Ed Westwick did a good job and Molly C. Quinn gave it a valiant go to do accents, but it was ultimately very distracting.

Do you think City of Fallen Angels needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I will keep listening to the series, I find it to be an interesting concept.
