Publisher's summary

City of Fallen Angels take up where City of Glass left off. With Valentine out of the way, Clary thought she and Jace could finally be together--but when someone starts murdering the Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine's Circle and leaving their bodies around New York City in a manner designed to destroy the new peace between Downworlders and Shadowhunters, she realizes the past can never be left entirely behind. As the Shadowhunters scramble to find out what's really going on, Jace breaks off all communication with her, refusing to tell her why. Desperate to help him, Clary plunges into solving the mystery, coming ever closer to a secret whose revelation may mend her relationship with Jace--or rip it apart forever. Meanwhile, when Camille Belcourt, the elegant bloodsucker who used to rule New York's vampire clans with an iron fist, returns to the city determined to re-establish her control, a vampire war is born. Only Simon--the Daylighter who everyone wants on their side--can decide the outcome; too bad he's caught up in his own complicated love life and wants nothing to do with Downworld politics! Love, blood, betrayal and revenge: the stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.

ok

Any additional comments?

Less descriptions of stuff around them. I fast forwarded through mos of the book. as soon as it started describing a room or the trees or someones face I have heard more than once I hit the Fast forward 30 secs till it was over and dang if sometimes it was almost 3 mins of describing a hall way or something. But the plot was good enough for me to keep listening.

Horrible Narrators!

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Ed Westwick and Molly C. Quinn ?

Someone who actually knows how to narrate a book.

Any additional comments?

Did these narrators, particularly Molly Quinn, even bother to listen to the last 3 books in the series? Why are key words such as "stellae" and "Idris" pronounced differently in this book than in the others? I was half way into the book before I realized that Molly Quinn's "steely" was the same thing as a "stellay". I kept thinking "If Clarie lost her stellae, why couldn't she find something better than a steel marble to use?"

I'm not sure how narrating gigs work but you'd think there'd be a requirement to be consistent in pronouncing names and key words, especially when three books have come before!

WHY DID YOU CHANGE THE NARRATOR?

How could the performance have been better?

Had they not changed the narrator it would have been wonderful. There is no depth to the different characters when the girl reads. It sounds like the same squeaky teenager reading the whole book. Awful. AWFUL!!!!!! You can not tell at all when she moves from character to character. Molly ruins the whole book.

Any additional comments?

Don't let the beginning clip with the sexy male voice fool you, they wasted money on making the first hour worth listening to while destroying the rest of the book with a monotone teenager. I hope they re-do the last two books, because this girl is AWFUL! I plan to just buy the book. I can not stand the idea of listening to this girl a minute longer.

Female Narration KILLED IT

How could the performance have been better?

The performance by Ed Westwick was... the best of the series so far. I could tell the difference in his characters in just a few words, the narration was interesting and spot on, I want to pay this man OUT OF MY POCKET to narrate the rest of the series. Molly C. Quinn's performance WAS THE WORST of the series. AND THAT'S SAYING SOMETHING... I mean, did you hear the Mae Whitman narration? Seriously. Her poor narration and dictation of voices was made almost a thousand times worst by pairing it with Westwick's. Why do they keep switching narrators for EVERY BOOK FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. Why toy with my emotions so? I know Westwick and Quinn won't last, and I'm happy AND sad about it! MY EMOTIONS. In conclusion though, did Quinn win a fan contest or something? Hire a professional next time, seriously guys.

The narrator choice was a huge mistake

If you could sum up City of Fallen Angels in three words, what would they be?

Cassandra Clare rocks! Count 'em. Three words.

What did you like best about this story?

If you loved the first three books as I did, then you will appreciate the further development of the primary characters. I liked that the Maia character was able to finally understand the true nature of her wolfy genesis and love "betrayal". I am even fascinated with the billing coming due for Clary's wish in City of Glass. It seems to make for a new and interesting story line.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Ed Westwick and Molly C. Quinn ?

Ed was fine. Molly is one of the worst narrators I have ever heard and I have listened to literally hundreds of audio books - over 100 just from audible.com. You could only improve by choosing someone else. The narrator for the first three books was fantastic, although I dont remember her name.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Mommy Dearest as you never knew her.....

Any additional comments?

Dont ruin any more great audiobooks with a subpar narrator. I swear, it was like falling into an ice water drink whenever Molly started reading. I dont mean to be unkind, but narration is not one of her talents. Just dont do it.

*Spoilers* Meh

I didn't find the story that interesting. I also didn't buy that Sebastian could control Jace where Lilith could not after the mark was disfigured and just because Jace's blood was in Sebastian. Sebastian was dead, and a partially completed ritual--particularly where that portion of the ritual was merely a vampiric blood draw)--could not have given him consciousness to finish the ritual. The characters were boring and had no flavor. Iean, who cares about Simon's love life? It was far too drawn out for me. And so was the problems between Clary and Jace. Booooo. Sorry but the story was unimpressive.

The male voice over was fabulous but the female voiceover...well she lacks either skill, talent, or both for character switches. I had a very hard time telling who was talking because her voice barely changed.

Bad narrator

Ed Westwick did not convey emotion nor gender appropriately. He also mumbles in soft incomprehensible voices many times throughout the book.

Good teen fantasy.

I wouldn't be concerned at all if I found my daughter wrapped up reading this book. she has my approval.
