Publisher's summary

City of Fallen Angels take up where City of Glass left off. With Valentine out of the way, Clary thought she and Jace could finally be together--but when someone starts murdering the Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine's Circle and leaving their bodies around New York City in a manner designed to destroy the new peace between Downworlders and Shadowhunters, she realizes the past can never be left entirely behind. As the Shadowhunters scramble to find out what's really going on, Jace breaks off all communication with her, refusing to tell her why. Desperate to help him, Clary plunges into solving the mystery, coming ever closer to a secret whose revelation may mend her relationship with Jace--or rip it apart forever. Meanwhile, when Camille Belcourt, the elegant bloodsucker who used to rule New York's vampire clans with an iron fist, returns to the city determined to re-establish her control, a vampire war is born. Only Simon--the Daylighter who everyone wants on their side--can decide the outcome; too bad he's caught up in his own complicated love life and wants nothing to do with Downworld politics! Love, blood, betrayal and revenge: the stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.

Not good!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Listening to this book was so annoying. The readers are sooo bad they distract from a mediocre story. Can I at least trade my audiobook in for a written version?

Has City of Fallen Angels turned you off from other books in this genre?

I'm not sure. I would like to see if I can read a download written version and enjoy it as much as I enjoyed the first three books of the series/

How did the narrator detract from the book?

He: Fakey accents which vacillated between pseudo-Brit and B-movie gangsta. She: Believe it or not, she was worse. High, squeaky voice that could not project emotion or range without being shrill.

Was City of Fallen Angels worth the listening time?

NO!

Any additional comments?

Whoever hired them to read should find a new career.

Annoying that they switched readers

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Ed Westwick and Molly C. Quinn ?

Its somewhat annoying that they opted to change narrators for this book. The male voice is just odd to have a foreign accent overall. It just doesn't seem to fit. Its also annoying that the narrators (both male and female) pronounce things differently so it takes a while to figure out what they refer to at times. For instance how they pronounce Stele in comparison to the narrator from Books 1-3 is much different. Also the difference in pronouncing Maryse. It just gets annoying after a while.

Any additional comments?

Perhaps I've missed something but I also find it odd that Maia is unaware of the situation with Simon. As a werewolf she has better than normal smell so she would be able to detect what is going on.

But overall the book is very much what you would expect from this series and I found it enjoyable. Not as enjoyable as the first 3 books but still worth your time I think.

Good Story, Disappointing Narrators

If you could sum up City of Fallen Angels in three words, what would they be?

Slow, Suprising, Good

Would you recommend City of Fallen Angels to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes, only if they want to continue with the Mortal Instruments Series.

How could the performance have been better?

Well, they could have gotten better narrators. Ed Westwick's performance was low and his voices didn't really fit with the characters. He was sounded bored and uninterested and sometimes it was hard to understand him. Molly Quinn's performance was worse. She had one voice for all the characters, making it difficult and confusing to know which character was speaking. Molly failed to give teh characters their own voice whereas Ed at least tried. Part of what makes an audiobook great is when the narrators brings the characters to life and these didn't.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, but I did get through it in about three weeks.

Any additional comments?

While the story is good and I enjoyed it but I really disliked the narrators. The whole time I was reading the book I was only focusing on the story itself rather than who was reading it to me. It is a good story but the narrators were disappointing. I would like Natalie Moore to return as the narrator, she I liked.

Great book, but...

I was disappointed that they narrator changed and had grew fond of the narrator from books 1-3. Most disappointing was the different pronunciations of the names of places, weapons, etc.

I love this

I really enjoyed the book, although the male narrator I must admit sounded a bit weird.
I would really recommend this to anyone above 13. To be honest this is for all ages.

Great series - highly recommend

Love the story. Easy to get lost in. The female readers performance was great. I was distracted a little bit by the male reader. This is a great book, I've been sucked into it. On to the next I go.

Good story, but another narrator change =(

Would you listen to another book narrated by Ed Westwick and Molly C. Quinn ?

I continue to enjoy this series and I liked the way they used two narrators. Ed Westwick did a great job but I did not like Molly C Quinn at all. The only reason I gave three stars for performance is because Ed Westwick did so well. I would have given Ed four stars, Molly 2 stars at most.

I loved Ed Westwicks voice, but was not a fan of Molly C. Quinn’s voice over.

Narration - Like Fingernails on a Chalkboard

Would you be willing to try another one of Ed Westwick and Molly C. Quinn ’s performances?

Absolutely NOT. Molly Quinn's voice is so annoying. I really want to know how Cassandra Clare continues this story BUT It literally pains me to listen to this book. If I wasn't already intrigued by the story from the first three books I would just give it up. At least this one is only 13hrs (and Molly only narrates half the time) - The next book in this series is 17 hrs AND is only Molly narrating - God please grant me the serenity to get through it.

My work commute is an hour and 15 minutes each way. Listening to audiobooks has become a way for me to actually enjoy that time. Unfortunately, Molly C Quinn has made me almost dread the drive home.

on a side note, I do like Ed Westwick's voice - but it's not a good match for this book.

Narrators Better than before

Would you listen to City of Fallen Angels again? Why?

Yes, I have already listened to the first three books twice and expect that I will revisit 4-5 before the 6th book is released

What does Ed Westwick and Molly C. Quinn bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I actually believe these narrators are a major upgrade over the previous narrator. To me the first three books were great except that they were so poorly narrated. When I heard these narrators I thought "this is great they fixed it." The old narrator was barely professional. These two are great, although the male actor should have been produced little louder to balance the volume better between sections.

Any additional comments?

Great book! Fun to see the new story arc begin, and really enjoyed the focus on Simon.
