Publisher's summary

City of Fallen Angels take up where City of Glass left off. With Valentine out of the way, Clary thought she and Jace could finally be together--but when someone starts murdering the Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine's Circle and leaving their bodies around New York City in a manner designed to destroy the new peace between Downworlders and Shadowhunters, she realizes the past can never be left entirely behind. As the Shadowhunters scramble to find out what's really going on, Jace breaks off all communication with her, refusing to tell her why. Desperate to help him, Clary plunges into solving the mystery, coming ever closer to a secret whose revelation may mend her relationship with Jace--or rip it apart forever. Meanwhile, when Camille Belcourt, the elegant bloodsucker who used to rule New York's vampire clans with an iron fist, returns to the city determined to re-establish her control, a vampire war is born. Only Simon--the Daylighter who everyone wants on their side--can decide the outcome; too bad he's caught up in his own complicated love life and wants nothing to do with Downworld politics! Love, blood, betrayal and revenge: the stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.

Awkward Narration

This series is worth listening to. However, the narrators for this one at times have weird accents (is Jayce from NJ?), or read uncomfortably slow. The story helps disguise a lot of this though so don't be discouraged!

One narrator great, one just eh

Ed Westwick is a great narrator, the girl not so much. She had odd timing at times. His voices were great and so in character. Book was good, as the whole series has been.

Narrative Ruined the Book

I don't understand why this series has to constantly change the narrators, but it ruined the story for me. Each narrator portrays different accents, different tones, and different pronunciations that it's hard to get into. I also don't think Molly Quinn was the only narrator because in the last two chapters her voice completely changed. I bought the fifth book instinctively, but I might return it or just take a long break because I can no longer get into the story.

I really enjoyed the story but the performance wasn't the best.

What was one of the most memorable moments of City of Fallen Angels?

Jace disappering.

Would you be willing to try another one of Ed Westwick and Molly C. Quinn ’s performances?

No, well yet me not say no, I just didn't like there voices for this story .

Yes

Good series but not a fan of this book

Would you listen to City of Fallen Angels again? Why?

No, it is an ok story but not one I need to listen to again.

What was one of the most memorable moments of City of Fallen Angels?

When Simon plays a show and all the craziness that follows that show.

What about Ed Westwick and Molly C. Quinn ’s performance did you like?

I didn't. Having two narrators is ridiculous and there doesn't seem to be any ryhme or reason to when they switch. It's just distracting, and that's putting it nicely. Molly Quinn also pronounces a few words very differently then they have been pronounced in the first 3 books. A little consitency with the other 3 books would've been nice

Any additional comments?

I'm a big fan of the series but this book was just boring. It was all about the characters relationships and I felt like it didn't even touch on the actual plot until 80% of the way through the book. Book 3 was amazing, which makes Book 4 even more of a letdown.

Decent Story, Terrible Narrators

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The story line was decent. I liked the way that the book focused more on Simon and his story. The whole love thing between Clary and Jace is really drawn out. We get it, they're in love. Can they just be in love without all the unnecessary perilous situations? And how often Clary does not listen to those around her is getting a little old. I mean, how many bad decisions can one girl make?

Would you be willing to try another book from Cassandra Clare? Why or why not?

Yes. I'll probably finish out the series.

How could the performance have been better?

Who chose these narrators? I mean seriously? I know full well that I do not have a voice that is capable of narration, does the girl narrator really not understand how awful she sounds on tape? The guy narrator was slightly better - but neither of them had distinctive voices for each of the characters which was a huge bummer and made a few parts confusing when characters were just going back and forth.

worst narrators EVER!

Any additional comments?

Worst possible narrators. The male voice has an unexplained (and unnecessary) accent, the female voice is either yelling hysterically or whispering sensually.

The book is OK, but it's hard to enjoy it with these two.

Awful narration

Molly C. Quinn was a horrible narrator, can't understand why they picked her. She mispronounced a bunch of words and sounds like a little kid. #DeepFriendship #UnreliableNarrator #NewYork Tagsgiving #Sweepstakes

Poor Naration

What did you like best about City of Fallen Angels? What did you like least?

This story is very good and I love the characters and the world that Cassandra Clare has created. The HUGE downside is that the narrators sound bored with what they are reading, and while Ed Westwick at least does different voices for each character, Molly C. Quinn didn't bother. Quinn's narrator sound exactly like all her characters and there is no difference between the character voices at all, which makes it really confusing when there are large patches of dialog between characters.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Ed Westwick and Molly C. Quinn ?

Mae Whitman, who narrated the first of the series, I think was the best narrator that has been used for the series.
