With her mother in a coma and her father hell-bent on destroying the world, Clary Fray is dragged deeper into New York City's terrifying underworld of werewolves, demons, and the mysterious Shadowhunters. "Fans of...Buffy the Vampire Slayer will instantly fall for this series." (Publishers Weekly)
"A gorgeous fantasty that's so good, it's dangerous." (Holly Black)
Its a fantastic story line. It can have you sitting on the edge of your seat dying to know what is going to happen next.
Jace would have to be my favourite character, because his life as a lot of interesting twists and turns and throughout it all he still manages to help/stand by the others.
The different voices/accents for the characters and the parts that are in other languages.
It is very easy to just close you eyes and be swept away by the story. Completely forgetting that it is not reality.
Yes. I have this book and the other mortal instrument books has both hardcover and audio books.
So no matter where i am i can pick up where i left off.
i suggest this book to anyone who is interested in fantasty, romance and mystery.
This series will always keep you guessing.
Love, truth, lies.
Valentine is my favourite character as he balances out the make you vomit love story, and he is just so evil.
This is the first Natalie Moore narrated book I have listened to.
I wouldn't. As much as I would love to see these books in film, City of Bones was mangled to badly. Some books should remain books.
Finding my Joy with CRPS
Absolutely, I would and I have and I will :) it's an awesome continuation of the series with new characters and killer plots twists!
I think Alec is hilarious in this one as is Magnus. I always love Izzy's spunk too!
I find Natalie shifts her voice enough that I can immediately tell who is speaking and highlights plot points that might otherwise have been missed in the text
When Alec and Jace realise how deep their friendship really is, that's a great point in the story and a lovely moment between them too!
Buy it, read it, listen to it...over and over!
Yes I would, when you are listening you actually pick up more things because when you are reading it, it is easy to skip things.
The relationship between Clary and Jace
Get ready to see the world as it really is
I do like kick butt chick vampire slayers
I love all things vampire, werewolf etc so enjoy reading peoples reviews. Several people stated that this could be enjoyed by teenagers and adults alike. I disagree, whilst I really enjoyed the series and there are some heavier issues detailed it is aimed at teenagers or young adults.
"City Of Ashes"
This book continues the story begun in City of Bones and is, in my opinion, every bit as spellbinding as the first. Jace and Clary are beset with enemies on every side as Valantine continues his quest to claim the mortal instruments as his own. In these dark times, Jace and Clary are uncertain whom they can trust, and they must deal with personal demons of their own. Beautifully written, at times achingly powerful, this book is every bit as gripping as the first.
This was brilliant and left me wanting more. The narrator does a fab job, I loved it and can't wait to listen to the next book.
looking forward to the next one. narrator is a vast improvement on the last one too.
"I love the shadow hunter world"
Another great book in the series, I have already read all the Immortal Instruments & Infernal Devices books and loved them so much that I've bought them on Audio book too so I can listen to them again :0)
just when i thought these books could not get any better, and they did. so fantastic i had to get onto the third book -could not wait. i hope the films live up to the books as there is a lot to get through if you love fantasy sci fir you will defiantly enjoy the series,
"City of Ashes"
Well that's it. I'm hooked! I really have enjoyed this series so far and have even broken my own rule of only listening while working. I blame my burned toast at breakfast and nearly strangling myself in bed with my headphone wires on the struggles that Clary, Jace and the other equally likable characters find themselves entwined in. Damn you Cassandra Clare and your captivating easy listen *shakes fist* 2 credits per month just aren't enough!
"Fantastic story, read well"
I love the entire series of The Mortal Instruments and decided to begin listening after the disappointing decision not to continue the movie series. Ms Moore does a good job of reading the story, engaging listeners and creating believable differences in character without blurring them too much.
"Poor choice of voices from narrator, not as good quality as the first book"
The narrator gives everyone awful air-head voices which makes me feel like i'm listening to a bunch of school kids. It may be a YA novel but come on…
Some parts of the book itself are so confusingly written, descriptions that seem to clash and really make it hard to get into.
I'd probably only recommend this book to teens rather than YA
fantastic boom can't wait to read/hear the next one..loved it they are so good to read
loved this audio book! The story though predictable in places is still unique and awesome
