Publisher's summary

Clary Fray just wants her life to go back to normal - but that turns out to be impossible. For one thing, her mother is still in the hospital, in a mysterious coma. For another, she and her brother, Jace, have fallen under a cloud of suspicion now that the Shadowhunter world knows that Valentine is still alive - and that Jace and Clary are his son and daughter. Not to mention that someone in New York is killing Downworlders and draining their blood, creating a climate of suspicion that sends Downworld Manhattan to the brink of civil war.

When the Silent Brothers are murdered and the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Sword of Souls, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor is dispatched from Idris to investigate. She clearly harbors a personal grudge against Jace, and she drives a wedge between him and his adoptive family. When Clary's romance with her best friend, Simon, starts to heat up, Jace feels abandoned. But has he, as the Inquisitor accuses, joined up with his father?

Then Simon is turned into a vampire and kidnapped by Valentine, who intends to sacrifice him as part of a bloody ritual that will make the Mortal Instruments his own forever. Jace knows he needs to save Simon's life, for Clary's sake. But what if he's too late? What if Valentine has already made the Mortal Instruments his own?

Great book and great narration. she did voices for all the characters, and not in an awkward way lol. highly recommend giving it a listen. The story is interesting and compelling.

frustrating narration

story is pretty good, but the first book was narrated by someone else as we're other books in the series and they kept the pronunciation of some of the magical items consistent, but this narrator did not. also very confusing that people who had certain accents in the first book, don't have them in this one. wish James Marsters narrated all of them.

Eh...

Okay, the immaturity fell flat for me as an adult with Clary trying to force herself to love Simon romantically. All that does it hurt people and yourself!

But if you're 17 and reading, maybe you can relate?

It's okay, but...

Ff'g through much of the book did not hinder the story. It dragged on & on so much, it became a snooze fest had I not. The sarcastic "comic relief," was over kill.
The MOST distracting thing was the disappearance of British accents. Book 1 all the Shadow Hunters had them, then around ch. 5 no one did. AND ch. 1 - 5, the accents were awful.
I finished this audio book for the sake of following the story to get to book 3.
The Infernal Devices & The Last Hours was such a stunning series, this series is such a let down so far.

great story. hate the narrator

I have nothing but praise for the book!

I love the second book, but I'm having a hard time getting through it because the narrator is not good. There is no inflection in her voice to differentiate between the characters which is making it difficult to know who's talking. It''s also irritating that she mispronounces words from the story. I'm definitely irritated I spent money on the audiobook as I'll probably buy the book and read it for myself.

Love these books! Now I'm ready 4 the next one!

loved it, the only thing I'm kind of confused about is book 1 on Audible, the characters have accents. Then as I continued on to book 2, all of a sudden,Nobody has accents,LOL! I understand that the readers are different people but it just kind of changes the perception if you're a visual person while reading & thinking of it in your head. but other than that the books are so the storyline is good and I can't wait to read the next as far as the commentary of the people reading it that's all I have to say five stars all around for the most part but next book here I come
