Publisher's summary

The series takes place in a world similar to our own but one where vampires, witches, werewolves and shape-shifters live among humans without their knowledge. These supernatural races make up a secret society known as the Night World, which enforces two fundamental laws to prevent discovery: 1) Never allow humans to gain knowledge of the Night World's existence and, 2) Never fall in love with one of them.

First he put her in a dungeon. Then he realized they were soulmates. Now he wants to make her a vampire princess. Maggie Neely is a short, spunky 16-year-old with auburn hair and an iron will. When her brother turns up missing, she’s determined to find him. But she never suspects that the trail will lead her into the most secret heart of the Night World, a kingdom where no outsider has stepped in five hundred years.

The kingdom is ruled by the young vampire prince Delos…who keeps all humans as slaves. When Delos falls in love with Maggie, he frees her and demands that she join him in his life of dark pleasure. He’s handsome, he’s romantic – Maggie can hardly resist him. But did he kill Maggie’s brother? And who are the strange people searching the kingdom for a Wild Power? Maggie won’t give up until she learns the truth – even if it means destroying Delos and his secret land. If he doesn’t destroy her first….

Spend some more time in Night World.

Okay...

I felt like book 8 was a little slow in the series. I did not find that I became as attached to the characters as the previous books.

A secret world within a secret world.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Time very well spent. I like this series I love how well LJ Smith has written and I love all the stories involved.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I have to say, this is not one of my top favorites in the series, but it's still good and I wouldn't change anything about it. I think this is meant to be everyone's least favorite book because it takes you into a very dark and primitive place within the Night World that’s full of bad guys doing bad things to innocent people.

What three words best describe Teri Clark Linden’s voice?

Expressive. Charming. Versatile.

Did Black Dawn inspire you to do anything?

No.

Any additional comments?

I learned that the last book of the Night World Series "Strange Fate" has been lost. LJ smith has written it but for some reason or another it has not been published. To my understanding this has been the case for close to 10 years. I am sad to say that at this point, you will be enjoying the Night World stories and characters without the ultimate closure a reader, a customer or a fan would expect.

Love the story, hate the reader.

I love this entire series and there is nothing I would change about the writing. But the woman who read this had the emotion of Siri in her voice. It ruined it for me.
