Once again I really enjoyed this, Ediwina Wren's narration really makes the story come alive. An excellent audio book.

    "Narrator sucks"

Edwina Wren is a terrible narrator, she cannot pronounce some common words, and she gives Shaunee a character from Connecticut a Southern accent, which makes absolutely no sense and is very distracting.
    Good Series though.

    "Suffering through Edwina Wren narration.....still"

Going to tear my hair out if she says dipo for depot again! Please - just please - get on with your mis-pronouncing self! See - easy peezy!

The book is good - love the story and it continues well - can't we redo and have a better narrator?

"This is NOT Audible KIDS: still."

There were still some serious issues that I have with the book, and possibly the series. The "This is Audible kids" introduction is inappropriate for such a sexually charged novel, and is geared more to the emotionally advanced young adults. The first issue is that we understand that the character of Damien is gay. I however find it repugnant to make every adjective, or adverb from the word 'gay'. Damien does x like a gay ballerina, or Damien ran into the room like a gay tornado got old really, really fast. I like Damien as a character but the unimaginative writing about Damien does such a well developed character no justice.

Then their is Zoey herself who seems unable to go more than ten steps without soaking her underwear over a new boy. This isn't the fault of Zoey, though I admit to being frustrated that two seconds after her beau was gone she is running overtime at the laundry mat because she is running short on underwear. This reflects poorly on the authors who repetior of story lines seems severely lacking unless someone 9021H0ES their way through the book. If Zoey were a male character, he would be an untrustworthy slime. Unfortunately she is a female character and thus subsequent characteristically appropriate names are very foul, and I wouldn't sully myself with using them. These characters are well developed and you quickly become overly empathetic with them. It just doesn't help the plot, or the characters that Zoey seems unable to control herself for her two already boyfriends. She went from being in high school with her sort of ex-boyfriend who was the dreamboat, to being the boy collector. I seriously hope these two women (authors) can pull away from their own Marry Ellen dirty dreams and get about the business of telling a great story, which this series has every hallmark of being.

I hope the authors of the series can get over these books being their naughty girl play land, and get to the business of good writing.

    "Interesting Plot, Poorly Executed"
    What disappointed you about Betrayed?

Honestly, the only reason I listened to this sequel was because I was able to purchase the first and second on sale. I had read the books quite some time ago and didn't realize/remember how horrible it was until listening to it. The book is supposed to be written about a 16 year old instead I feel like it was written BY a 16 year old. There are so many sentences that were worded so poorly I seriously question whether or not there was ever a creditable editor involved. I can't stand the excessive use of words like "poopy," it literally made me cringe. Also, the main character frustrates me like hell. For one, I understand this is meant to be from the perspective of a young girl, but the way she describes people (I.E. dork, loser, ugly, super gay, fag) makes me sad. I just feel like the heroin of a story should be above that. She isn't particularly kind, even when it comes to her friends. Also, the character develop is horrific. Zoey decides she HAS to take care of things, but there isn't any substance leading up to it. I don't know if I feel this way because the narrator's inflections were often misplaced, but over all I was incredibly disappointed. This series doesn't fall into any category appropriate for any age. Its too sexual for younger kids, yet too immature for even an 18 year old. I'm done. Definitely not going to waste any more money on this.

What didn’t you like about Edwina Wren’s performance?

I don't even know where to start! Edwina constantly mispronounces words. I'm not even referring to words like drama, in which anyone with a native Australian accent would pronounce as "dramer", I'm talking about words like Arkansas! She literally says Arr Kansas, was no one directing this or paying attention to this?! I don't know how much audio books invest in their narrators, but someone please get this woman an accent coach! She made the token black girl from Connecticut sound like she was from Louisiana. Talk about stereotype! This made the book that much more excruciating. Also, as I previously mentioned her inflections are way off! when someone is happy she'll sound angry. When someone is complimenting someone she'll sound prissy. Its like she never read the book before reading it and just showed up to the recording.

    "Great Vampire Series"

This series is a little different to the normal vampire novels, I.e. twilight, vampire diaries and etc. However, it does not let down. The difference in comparison is brilliant. And Just as good. I am really addicted to this series!

    "betayed"

As with Marked, I found this book gripping, although it took a little longer for me to get into. While I appreciate the books are being told from a teenager's point of view and therefore have to sound like that, I think it was over done in certain places. The use of words like 'totally' and 'gazilian' as well as made up words like 'gihugic' did start to grow a bit repetative. While I don't generally approve of books where a girl strings several guys along, I have to accept that it makes for a more interesting story. What I like the most about this series is my inability to predict what will happen at any given moment. I've always hated books where you've worked out the plot long before the big reveal, and these Authors aren't above throwing in the shock factor when it sutes them. Fans who liked Marked will enjoy this title and will eagerly snap up the next in the series.
