Fledgling vampyre Zoey Redbird has managed to settle in at the House of Night. She's come to terms with the vast powers the vampyre goddess, Nyx, has given her, and is getting a handle on being the new Leader of the Dark Daughters. Best of all, Zoey finally feels like she belongs-like she really fits in. She actually has a boyfriend...or two.
Then the unthinkable happens: Human teenagers are being killed, and all the evidence points to the House of Night. While danger stalks the humans from Zoey's old life, she begins to realize that the very powers that make her so unique might also threaten those she loves.
Then, when she needs her new friends the most, death strikes the House of Night, and Zoey must find the courage to face a betrayal that could break her heart, her soul, and jeopardize the very fabric of her world.

While I did enjoy Betrayed more than I initially thought I would, it could do with a bit of housecleaning to rid itself of too much coincidence and too little realistic interaction among the teens. I also think that much of the "vampyre" rituals seem to be more "witch-like" than they should be. But in general I did enjoy the story and I still like the whole idea of The House of Night and creepy undead creatures and people who aren't what they seem to be. I'd love to give this one 3.5 stars for general entertainment.
This book is very detailed and vivid on painting a picture in your head as you listen...... Narrator is vey talented in keeping up with all the different voices of the characters...... I love her Stevie Ray voice.
Edwina Wren's performace was very good and the story seemed to just fly by and left me wanting more of the same, before I was done I ordered the next book in the series.
I love to read and listen to books. I'm a hair dresser. I live in New York and I have 5 children. All grown. 30, 27, 24, 23, 19. And I Love them all very much.
Yes, and I did. Why, because I enjoy it.
All hero's have a hard live, but you grow to love them. What other books? Harry Potter series, The Lightning Thief series, Twilight series, My Soul to take Soul Screamers series,The Strange Power Dark Visions Series, Alchemyst The Secrets of the Immoral Nicholas Flamel series. They are all teens and hero's, they win at the end.
Yes i did
You will love this book.
I just started this series and I'm really liking it. I have read a lot of bad reviews about the preformer's pronouncement of some of her words. This would be due to the fact that she is from Melbourne, Australia. So her Australian pronouncements comes through on certain words even though she is trying for an American accent. I feel that she is doing a wonderful job and do not feel like it is detracting from the story at all. I know that I will continue on with the rest of the series.
I really like this series. Even though it was written for tweens I'm really into it, I'm 29. It's kinda like Harry Potter for tween girls.
The House of Night series is tagged as YA, and they are (lots of teenage angst) - but I enjoyed them all very much, and I am (ahem) mid-30's.
The plot is quite interesting, and I looked forward to each sequel as I listened to all of the books in the series, and can't wait for the next one in the fall. :)
