Ethan Wate thought he was getting used to the strange, impossible events happening in Gatlin, his small Southern town. But now that Ethan and Lena have returned home, strange and impossible have taken on new meanings. Swarms of locusts, record-breaking heat, and devastating storms ravage Gatlin as Ethan and Lena struggle to understand the impact of Lena's Claiming. Even Lena's family of powerful Supernaturals is affected - and their abilities begin to dangerously misfire. As time passes, one question becomes clear: What - or who - will need to be sacrificed to save Gatlin?
For Ethan, the chaos is a frightening but welcome distraction. He's being haunted in his dreams again, but this time it isn't by Lena - and whatever is haunting him is following him out of his dreams and into his everyday life. Even worse, Ethan is gradually losing pieces of himself - forgetting names, phone numbers, even memories. He doesn't know why, and most days he's too afraid to ask.
Sometimes there isn't just one answer or one choice. Sometimes there's no going back. And this time there won't be a happy ending.

“There is no friend as loyal as a book.” ― Ernest Hemingway
Beautiful Choas was even better than the two previous Beautifuls. It was neatly written and emotionally captivating! Kevin T. Collins did an excellent job on mimicing the characters voices, which made the whole thing even more enjoyable! I almost choked on my own tears several times while listening to it, and I dare you not to cry. This series has always been dark and depressing, yet not doubt Beautiful. The end caught me by surprise and left me painfully haning. I can't wait to read the last book!
I am a 40 something year old female that still loves young adult fiction.
Gatlin comes alive once again in this story of family, friends, love and loss. Mr Collins, once again gave a stellar performance in this next chapter of Lina and Ethan's journey. Ethan is once again having the dreams and hearing his mother's song. Pestilence and destruction of Old Testament proportions is taking place after Lena claimed herself at her 17th moon. So many choices have been made along the way that have complicated the course of events. The only way to resolve the dire situation is a sacrifice.
I don't think I have cried this hard over a book ever! Mr Collin's ability to perform the different voices made this even more enjoyable. I was on the edge of my seat anticipating every twist and turn this story provided. I love many of the characters, Linkubus, Alma and even John Breed gew on me. I hated him so much from the last book. I even felt sorry for Serafina. The curse is brutal and when you don't have a choice or anyone to turn to, it is a difficult journey. This is one series that I will listen to over and over again!
Fiction: I like Young Adult, Historical, Fantasy, Romance, Classics. Non-Fiction: I like Historical, Military, Memoirs.
I would change a lot. There seemed to be a whole lot of nothing going on in this book, compared to the first book. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great, and I was eager to get to the end just to get it over with. I kept hoping something really great would come out of it, but nothing ever did.
Yes, I enjoyed Beautiful Creatures, so I was surprised that I found this instalment a little lacking.
Kevin T. Collins is a fantastic narrator. I spent the credit on Beautiful Chaos because my library didn't have it and I really enjoyed his narration of the rest of the series. If it wasn't for his talent, I would feel a little let down by this book. He has a wonderful voice and an ease of speech that makes his narration alone worth the credit.
While I was most enthralled with book 1 in this series (which is pretty typical of this type of genre, at least for me), I definitely enjoyed making my way through books 2 & 4. So: if you were a fan of "Beautiful Creatures," it's definitely worth your while to make your way through the trilogy!
Yes, yes, yes!! Good story.
Loved the characters. Well developed.
The narrator is awesome!! Portrayed perfectly all of the characters, both male and female. And the southern accent was just the right tone to wrap this book perfectly.
Lots of laughs and cliffhangers. Won't give it away but holy crap the end!!!!! And now I have to wait how long for the next book?!?!?!?!
Even though this is a teen book, it was a fun read for this adult!!
Anarchy, injustice, sacrifice
It continues the story...with the characters, the places, the atmosphere of the beautifully created world of the Beautiful Creatures. So many layers in the story, the magic...maturing of the characters who were required to make life changing decisions in this book.
He is very good.
It does have times of humor and times of great sadness.
The Beautiful Creatures series is my absolute favorite. I have been an Audible member for years and these are the only books I have ever listened to twice. Yes, they move a bit slow and can be are repetetive. However, I enjoyed the sound effects and the narration is great. My favorite characters are Ethan's elderly aunts. They are adorable! I am from the deep South and they remind me of a couple of people I know!
Technically, it's the 4th including "Dream Dark," but who's counting?
The novel got a little slow in the middle, and I noticed a lot of the same phrases were repeated. However, it really picked up in the end and I cried for the last hour straight through!
Narration was fantastic as always!
The story just keeps getting better and better as the characters get more indepth. The story draws you in and holds you tight.
This is a great series. I have purchased all of the books in this series and they're all great. Perfect narrator also.
