I am a retired Army veteran and love to read. I like murder mystery, but enjoy nonfiction. I am a long time Star Trek fan.
No, It was entirely too long for the contents.
Hated. It. Even though it was open ended enough to envision another book to clean up some questions about the characters
I always enjoy Kate Rudd's narration. She never disappoints.
There was some laughing and crying moments,
The constant emotions I felt while listening. I truly laughed out loud, almost cried a few time. I listen on the train to work and while walking downtown, I must look a so strange.
This book and series have just truly pulled me in hook line sinker. I feel the emotions of the characters as if they are my own, as if they are my friends. I feel the pain they feel, the sadness in their lives.
He intonations, her ability to relay true emotion in the words, is outstanding, and unbeatable.
I would sit in my car and listen while sitting in the parking lot if I was driving, i would listen while cooking dinner, yes! I wanted to finish this in one sitting I couldn't wait to hear what happened next.
Book 1 was good, but this one was harder to listen. Just when I thought I'd call it quits, something interesting would happen. It was worth the purchase, but just barely. And Book 3 wasn't worth the purchase at all.
Not if it was a series. Feels like she watches soap operas and keeps the ridiculous drama going. Not a book that keeps your interest throughout, that's for sure.
Emma of course.
Well, it has a follow-up and no, it wasn't worth it.
So I was a little down at the end of book one that the mystery/thriller part of the series was over, but to my surprise, there is more to come! This series seems to get better and better. I can't wait to find out how it all ends, but, I will be heartbroken when it is over. DEFINITELY worth a credit!!!
You will have to start listening to this book thirty seconds after you finish book one because of the cliffhanger ending of Reason to Breathe.....make sure you have this book purchased before you finish book 1! This book is about Emma moving past what happened with her Aunt Carol and then trying to mend her broken relationship with her mom. She moves in with her mom. In a lot of ways the stuff that happens between her and her mom was harder for me to handle than the abuse in book 1. Her mom is volatile and still abusing alcohol and drugs, and I really wanted things to end up differently than they did. It was almost too much to imagine one person going through. It's heart wrenching and emotional.
A perfect world for me: A huge room with wall to wall bookshelves lined with one inspiring book after another & over sized comfy chairs.
Yes! It's one of those books that you think about long after you have read it. It's gut-wrenching, heart breaking and stunningly accurate!
Just when you think her life is on track and good things should start happening to her, something bad happens to her again. It's hard to read at times! You just keep holding on to hope that things will turn out right for once.
Evan of course! He is the perfect love interest that I love to read about! Although no such guy would actually exist in this world!!! Kate Rudd is a very gifted performer. Her voice for Evan would just melt me at times. Kate's very talented at reading a wide range of both male and female voices.
It made me realize just how much a person can go through without completely losing themselves. Also how Evan just kept being there for her no matter what.
Some reviewers have a hard time believing that a person can continue to keep making one bad choice after another. Unless you have been through similar situations, or know of someone who has gone through abuse at this level, then it is hard to believe. In reality the cause and effect from abuse is stunningly accurate as described in this book. There needs to be more understanding for these victims.
Top 4 series
Kate did an amazing job!! Every character was read perfectly!
The series is addictive and an emotional roller coaster!
I love the relationship with Emma and her mother, Emma and Jonathan and Emma and Evan. All so very different .
I loved the first book and this whole book was great. The relationship with Emma and Jonathan develops into something strange but normal.
I like Kate Rudd and a reader very much, her voices and expressions gets you into the characters.
