Publisher's summary

Several things about 14-year-old Georgia Nicolson's life are very wrong. Her bedroom smells like her little sister probably peed somewhere, but she can?t find where. Angus, her enormous cat, keeps terrorizing Mrs. Next Door's poodle. Dad's gone off to look for work in New Zealand. And one of her friends has rated Georgia's nose a zero on a scale from 1-10. But what's really driving her crazy is that Sex God Robbie doesn't give her the time of day. In fact, he's dating total idiot Lindsay, who Georgia happens to know wears thong knickers, which have no purpose except to climb up your bum. Is it too much for Georgia to hope for some full-frontal snogging with a Sex God, if he ever notices her?

Louise Rennison caused a sensation with this hilarious book that has been called Bridget Jones' Diary for adolescents. Narrator Stina Nielsen brilliantly fills the shoes of one of the most colorful young adult book characters in years.

JAS: He said, "See ya later."
GEORGIA: But he might say that to everyone, like sort of "See you later" sort of thing.
JAS: You mean you don't think he likes me?
GEORGIA: I didn't say that. He might never say "See you later" unless he means, "See you later."
JAS: So you think he might mean "See you later," then?
GEORGIA: Yes.
JAS: When is later, though?

🤣🤣🤣 Sorry, you might have had to have been there, but this type of dialogue reappears a few times throughout the book and it made me laugh more each subsequent time. What teenage girl, at one point or another, didn't over-analyze everything a boy said to her?

As many times as I thought Georgia was a little shite, I also laughed out loud. I probably wouldn't recommend this to a young person who is easily influenced by what they read or watch, because Georgia has no respect for adults. Parents or otherwise. That might be my biggest issue with the story. Other than that, it was a light and fun read with a well done audio presentation.

So fun!

I read this book when I was younger and I absolutely loved it. I decided to get the audio version and Stina Nielson completely brought it to life for me! I LOVE Louise Rennison's Georgia Nicolson books. They are so hilarious and so much fun. I have downloaded the rest of the series and I've been laughing through all of them. Don't pass up this fun (and funny!) book. Even as an adult, I still love to read and re-read this series.

Hilarious listen for pre-teens and adults

This is a hilarious story about the everyday happenings of a British 14-year-old. The British slang and wonderful narration would be worth the listen even without the entertaining story. The references to Georgia's cat never failed to make laugh out loud, and Georgia's madcap shenanigans were a great portrayal of the teenage psyche. One word of warning, however-- there is a LOT of British slang that may be confusing for those not familiar with it. There is a "glossary" at the end that explains it, but that is of limited usefulness in an audio format. Teens and folks with limited British exposure might do better to enjoy this one in print, but whatever the format this is not one to miss!

Don't go in expecting deep!

This is the first in the series written by Rennison - and do not expect there will be any deep subject matter! If you were ever a teenage girl...you will relate to many of the entries that Georgia makes in her diary. I thoroughly enjoyed this book as a get away from more serious or sober subject matter.

Wonderful Narration!

The story really is great, but I'm in love with Stina Nielson's narration. She really brings Georgia to life, and reminds me of some of my favorite comedians from BBC Radio 4. I enjoyed the diary/journal format, as well. It kept things punchy and succinct, so Georgia never becomes as annoying and hate-able as a silly, self-obsessed teenager ought to be. As she as can manage to do something dreadful, you're into another entry where she's correcting her actions, or at least suffering for them.

the perfect narrator

the narrator was spot-on. the story was humorous but somewhat shallow. made me laugh and absolutely reminded me of many teenage foibles.
