Loved it!

I am actually writing this for my son who read this book in fifth grade. He LOVED it! A lot of the material is things he had really never thought about and it led to some very interestng family conversations about the China one-child policy, etc.

Perfect Aside from Errant Ringing

This book was one of my childhood favorites. As an adult, the book hit just as hard and I found myself entirely enveloped in the suspense and drama of the book despite already knowing everything that happens. Steven did a wonderful job, and Margaret wrote a classic.

Two things are bad about this audiobook, both minor technical issues:

1) The audible chapter encoding is off, so despite the book having ~30 chapters the audible breaks them up haphazardly into 8 audible chapters making navigation by voice very difficult. Saying "restart chapter" can make you go back four chapters and take forever to find your place once more.

2) there is an incessant ringing in the background that might render the audiobook unlistenable for any audiophiles out there. I tuned the pitch out but every once in a while I'd notice it.

I'm hoping the second book doesn't suffer the same pitfalls.

Definitely one of my favorite books of all time, so authentic and thorough. I 100% recommend it for anyone.

what an amazing listen

Among the Hidden by Margaret Patterson Haddix was always a great book now to listen to it is even better. To anyone in need of a great series, this is the place to start. I read the books when I was in middle School and now to listen to it is an amazing opportunity.

Great Read for Middle School Students

My 6th grade students love the storyline as well as the pace of the reader/story.

Great Book, but the Ending??

If you could sum up Among the Hidden in three words, what would they be?

Futurestic, Sad, Hopeful

What was one of the most memorable moments of Among the Hidden?

The friendship that develops between Jen and Luke...the Shawdow Children.

What about Steven Boyer’s performance did you like?

How he went out on limb to help and protect his daughter, that wasn't even his biological daughter and to fight the Government. Then he gave Luke the chance at an actual life.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Luke met Jen's Dad and they grieved over their loss. Jen's Dad gave Luke the life he would have never been able to have unless he had met Jen and listened to her wisdom.

Interesting ideas

Even with a small buzz in the background it was still read very nicely and the story was brought to life. I am going back (as a adult now) and listening to all of the books that got me into reading as a kid. This ones twist really upset me as a kid and I remember crying and talking to my mom about it. Definitely a good listen.

Libertarian Mind

Wonderful book. I read this in my childhood and revisiting it as an adult I've found it has libertarian ideals.

Feels really short bit the concept is vary catchy

Read this when I was 13 and it's just as catching as it was back then. Just finished reading 1984 and there alot of parallels between the government systems as well as alot of things I didn't catch when I first read it. Its not really the most advanced book but its super catchy.

Hum in the background

Slight hum in the background, only noticeable sometimes. Didn’t ruin the book. Hopefully the rest of the series isn’t the same way.
