“A poignant, funny debut... readers will be charmed by Williams’ eccentric, lovable characters and her sharp observations about the world of both middle-schoolers and adults.” (Booklist)
“An uplifting story that will grab young readers.” (Horn Book)
Dar's a great reader and if you're a fan of her music you'll enjoy listening to her tell a story. That said, the plot is not very strong. Her characters are memorable, but her narrator is not very convincing as a young girl and the plot is a little bumpy. The adult characters are hilarious, though, and there are some great quirky moments.
