Not a romance story

The description of this book led me to believe it was a romance. Not even close. It's about a girl coming to grips with her parent's divorce and their new relationships. Just when I thought the romance might build- I was let down. There is little to no description of characters so it was impossible for me to visualize them.
The narrator has a squeaky voice. And, like another reviewer mentioned, takes awkward pauses. Not just in dialogue, but at random times. I thought it was the end of a chapter a couple times.

I wish I hadn't wasted my credit on this pick.

Not Just "Chick-Lit"

I've read several books by Sarah Dessen, and this one is my favorite so far. The main character, Auden, is smart, and I love intelligent female characters. She's decided to spend the summer between graduation from high school and her first year at college with her father in a beach resort town. This new location and the people who come into her life there make this summer one of change and transition for Auden. Usually a loner, she starts to reach out and make friends, including a boyfriend. She's forming new relationships with her stepmother and step sister. Most important, she's confronting her own feelings about her parents' divorce.
This book has realistic characters and situations. It gets the reader to consider relationships among family members and friends, as well as how people can or cannot change.

The Best Of Times

Along For The Ride is undoubtfuly my favorite book. I learned from it so much. Every second sentence is one that I would be proud to quote. I laughed and cryed with the carichtors, I could really feel for them all most of the time. The author has a really good sence of humer. The reader is excellent, I really loved the way she read. Her reading made the book come alive for me. The carichtors are developing and changing during the book, and the ending is a kind of new begining for everyone. When you buy this book, you are along for many rides. So enjoy your rides.

Great book, pretty good narrator

This is turning out to be a great book. I haven't finished it yet but I had to write a review because of the narrator. The narrator is great but when she does dialogue sometimes she makes these long pauses when she switches characters. I keep thinking the audio is cutting out. It is kind of annoying but otherwise the narrator is really good and the book is fun to listen to.

Great

This is an old favorite of mine from high school and it definitely held up. The narrator’s voice fit the story perfectly and didn’t distract at all.

It's slow

This was an ok book. I started out reading the physical copy of the book, but it was so slow that I knew I wouldn't be able to force myself through it. So, I tried the alternative, audible. It showed character development, but it wasn't very interesting for me.

Read this book growing up

I’ve always loved this book. The narrator wasn’t my personal favorite but it was still pretty good

Fun Story

I always love Sarah Dessen’s novels as a high school and college student. Now as an adult, it’s always nostalgic and fun to read or listen to them. This particular story line is a great one about growing up and learning to find yourself when things don’t always seem to work but then it turns out in the end!

Terrible narration

I made it through two hours of this book before I had to return it. I bought it because the movies on Netflix was sweet and I wanted to know how the actual book was, but Lord I wanted to shake the hell out of the narrator the entire time. She’s constantly pausing and breaking sentences up at weird times and it just didn’t flow at all.
