Effortless and Enthralling!

Don't let the size of this book intimidate you. It is an enthralling romp through the early life of America's most fascinating president. I love history and biographies and this is my favorite of them all. Listening this book was such a pleasure that I listen all books in the Teddy Roosevelt trilogy...and I'm thinking about listening them again ! J.R. MacGregor has managed to produce a biography that is both impeccably researched and so beautifully written as to make for effortless listening. In my opinion this book is the gold standard to which all other non-fiction writers should aspire. If you love listening don't miss this experience - listen this book!

Thorough and Thoroughly Readable

A thorough and thoroughly listenable biography of one of our greatest presidents. J.R. MacGregor is meticulous in his notes, extensive in his coverage, and yet manages to make this book listen almost like a novel, keeping you turning chapter , which is quite important given its considerable length. This is not your father's stuffy, dusty, and dry history. I look forward to listening the other volumes in the series.

Listen this

This is an enjoyable listen . It won a Pulitzer and its on the Modern Library Top 100 List so what can I add?. Love him or hate him, TR was a force to be reckoned with. On one hand, he was an imperialist who set the U.S. on the path towards an interventionist foreign policy. Unlike today's chicken hawk Republicans he at least backed up his war monger in by putting his own butt on the line. On the other hand he looks bed to fight the system. He was a traitor to his class and was the major economic and political progressive of his time. In other words, TR was the man

Thorough like a research book

The author writes the life of TR like a novel, chronicling his life sometimes week by week. Absolutely love listening this book. And it’s only the first of three!

Incredible Journey

A thorough, unvarnished, and riveting account of the life, from birth to ascension to the Presidency, of perhaps the most fascinating man who ever sat in the Oval Office. Love him or hate him, "Teddy" was truly a man of destiny - how else do you describe a life of a sickly, asthmatic boy who willed himself to health, and went on to become Author, Assemblyman, Rancher, Soldier, Governor and then President of the United States? I couldn't stop listening this book . Looking forward to listening more.
