Publisher's summary

Ever since Edgar Rice Burroughs created John Carter of Mars and Tarzan of the Apes over a century ago, his millions of fans have yearned for a novel in which these classic heroes meet. Now, in an epic adventure authorized by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc., the Warlord of Barsoom and the Lord of the Jungle come face-to-face in what must be described as their more most challenging exploit yet. When Tarzan finds himself marooned on dying Mars, without friends or weapons, he undertakes a trek across the dead sea bottoms of the Red Planet in search of food and shelter. What happens when the ape-man falls in with a tribe of four-armed Martian gorillas beside which the bronzed giant is no more than small boy? Will Tarzan sink into abject slavery or rise to ape-lord?

THE WILD ADVENTURES OF EDGAR RICE BURROUGHS

In the Wild Adventures of Edgar Rice Burroughs series, today’s authors innovate and expand upon Burroughs’ classic tales of wonder in truly wild fashion, even moving his characters and storylines outside the bounds of canon to alternate universes!

Legends collide on the red planet

Will Murray has written many pulp hero based books, not the least have been Doc Savage, The Spider, The Shadow, and Tarzan. This last character seems to hold a particularly warm place in his heart as he has revisited him several times. This book seems almost a culmination of that love for the jungle lord and the works of Edgar Rice Burroughs. Here, he has created a Canon approved story encompassing both Tarzan of the Apes and Burroughs' other famous creation, John Carter, Warlord of Mars.

I was highly impressed with the authentic feel and flavor of the writing. Moreover, I was impressed with just how much fun this book was. Heroic heroes, villainous villains, incredible creatures, and incredible worlds. What more can you ask for?

Okay, let's do some housekeeping...
profanity...none
sex...none (despite one character essentially throwing herself at Tarzan, he rebuffed her advances and only wants to get back to his wife)
violence...yes. Tarzan is the original jungle fighter and it gets pretty bloody. It should be noted that the violence is never the first resort, but the last.
Both Tarzan and John Carter are very honorable men who willingly place themselves in danger to do what they feel is the right thing.

I find very little bad that I can say about this book. I enjoyed it immensely. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys pulp action, Tarzan stories, John Carter/Barstow stories, or just plain high adventure. This book deserves a spot in your collection.

Utterly Disappointing

Holy moly! How can a story about TARZAN and JOHN CARTER possibly be boring! Jaysus help me! The narrator did an adequate job for sure, but I just can not express how much I did not enjoy this mind numbingly terrible book. Please don't let this guy write another ERB pastiche.
