Publisher's summary

Step into Shadow Falls, a camp for teens with supernatural powers. Here friendship thrives, love takes you by surprise, and our hearts possess the greatest magic of all.

Kylie Galen wants the truth so badly she can taste it. The truth about who her real family is, the truth about which boy she’s meant to be with - and the truth about what her emerging powers mean. But she's about to discover that some secrets can change your life forever… and not always for the better.

Just when she and Lucas are finally getting close, she learns that his pack has forbidden them from being together. Was it a mistake to pick him over Derek? And it’s not just romance troubling Kylie. An amnesia-stricken ghost is haunting her, delivering the frightful warning: someone lives and someone dies.

In C.C. Hunter's Taken at Dusk, Kylie races to unravel the mystery and protect those she loves, finally unlocking the truth about her supernatural identity, which is far different - and more astonishing - than she ever imagined.

Not great but not horrible

While I feel like this author is dragging the story out for sales, it's still not a horrible series. I've definitely read worse writing and like the feeling of mystery that this book gives me. Also great for old school Twilight fans to have a new set of boys to debate who is best. Don't mind the series but it's definitely not that fantastic.

I can't stop listening to this series

such a great take on growing pains, diversity and acceptance, first love and parental trust. I do love this series as an older adult there is some nostalgia to my feelings similar to some of the story lines that are told so well. Bravo C.C., for incorporating good manners and ethics prior to the current millennial selfishness and disrespect.

My favorite series!!!

If you could sum up Taken at Dusk in three words, what would they be?

Emotional, exciting, and riveting.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was Perry because he's got a cute, little boy trying to be a man kind of personality that makes you root for him! He's sort of the underdog when it comes to Miranda. His boyish, mischievous charm appears when he has to turn into a male, White cat while shadowing Kylie and when Kylie and Ellie get into it at meet your campmate hour.

Which character – as performed by Katie Schorr – was your favorite?

I would say Bernette because he puts on this front like he's tough (and he is) but I love that he has a big heart deep down. It's cute to see when he gets put in situations that are awkward for him like mushy or heartfelt because that rough exterior melts away!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed when Bernette and Holliday got caught kissing by Kylie. I had a heart attack almost when I found out which vampire died and when she found out who the ghost was!!

Any additional comments?

I am speechless! I JUST finished this book and I have to say that I'm in love with this series! This has to be my favorite series!!! It is a whirlwind of emotions that you feel and it's as if you know the characters. Every time I read a book in this series...I cannot put it down!! Kylie is still trying to find out what she is exactly. Her brain pattern continues to change from week to week. She's getting back into the flow of camp after her mini vakay at home where all of the crazy stuff happened like her healing her best friend, Sara's, cancer and being kidnapped by rogue supernaturals. She's working to move on from Derek and goes after Lucas. In the beginning of the book, I was rooting for Lucas but now I really feel like her soul mate/ who she should really be with is Derek. He seems to have a more healthy attachment and understands where she is coming from in her journey to find herself. Lucas is too pushy about her being a werewolf instead of embracing who she really is and he can be a little unreasonable when it comes to her gift of talking to spirits. She is helping a spirit find out who she is and what happened to her because the lady shows up with a huge scar on her head. She has to be assigned "shadows" in order to protect her from Mario and his crazy evil gang. Such a good read that will make you laugh and cry! I do not want to spoil anything but we FINALLY find out what she is at the end of the book!! Thank you CC Hunter because I do not think I can wait any longer lol. A lot of things happen in the end that makes you run to get the next book! Can't wait!!!!

unique new spin on supernatural creatures.

I'm enjoying this unique new spin on the world of supernatural creatures seen through the eyes of teens. I can't wait to listen to the next one. I really enjoyed the vocal performance especially the expression in the character Della. I laughed out loud at the sarcasm so evident in every line.
