Publisher's summary

Maria Reyes has fought all her life, to graduate high school on time, to go to college, to get a degree she wanted since she was little. Yet she still wants more; she wants to go back to school and become a nurse in order to help even more people and, to that end, she’ll show up at her ma and pa pharmacy job and get by day to day. At least she has her work wife, Kim, to help pass the time. So as the normal, typical boring day starts to take an odd, if not horror movie cliche, turn she can only grit her teeth and gear up for another fight.

At least she won’t have to fight this fight alone, no. Along her journey she meets many people, one of which is the ex gang banger Miguel, who is just trying to keep his sister and her friends safe. The sweet Levi, who up until now was going to school to be an elementary school teacher, and the army dropout redneck Mason. With their help, she hopes they can all get to a safe zone and get out of this nightmare and maybe, just maybe, she’ll find the kind of love she was looking for before everything went to s--t.

A scary story

This was my first book specifically about zombies. It was very detailed and graphic and some parts. I found that I couldn't listen to it at night, especially on nights when I was working until 10, 11, midnight. it was creepy.

This isn't my normal type of book to read (listen) to. When I heard Krys Janae was narrating it, I said yes without looking at the description of the book.

I personally struggled some with the book, but that is only because it is not a book that I would have normally picked up due to the zombies. There was a couple of times that I was going to quit the book, but I struggled because I wanted to know what happened next. I wanted to know what was going to happen to Maria. Outside of the zombie parts, I absolutely loved the book. There were some scary (to me) scenes. I could really feel the personal struggles that Maria was going through. I cheered with her, I cried with her, I laughed, and even blushed at a few spots.

That ending - I totally didn't see it coming. But, I am so drawn into the story that I have to know what happens next.

zombie action

I'm not a fan of zombie things, but this story was intriguing and held my attention throughout. I was gagging a lot at the descriptive phases. Action packed gore if that's your thing. Are you kidding me with that cliffhanger ending!!!??? I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job

Action packed!!

If you love action packed, zombie thrillers with descriptive gory scenes this book is for you!!
There was ton of action scenes, and I enjoyed getting to know the main character Maria. While Maria and her newfound friends try their best to survive the influx of zombies. It is certainly a page turner and the narrator kept me riveted. I absolutely loved it!!

I'm at a loss for words...

So... I honestly wasn't sure what to expect when I started this Audiobook. I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised, kept on the edge of my seat, and I think I yelled out and laughed quite a few times. This book is fast paced, full of adventure, and just a light dusting of romance. I seriously need the 2nd book...like... YESTERDAY!!

Annoying....

A lot of loooong wordy, run on sentences with underdeveloped characters. The Narration was not for me. after I sped it up to x120 she was more tolerable. Spoilers Below ⬇️

The story could have been better. After the zombie apocalypse hit Maria and friends held up in a store were she later met Miguel, after seeing his penis, she seemed to have started to fall for him to the point that completely forgot her brothers and mother at the apartment. Maria did not attempt to get to her family. Once she was separated from Miguel she meets a new group, then promptly forgets about Miguel when she meets Levy where somehow she becomes a leader of the group. Still not caring that her family may still be alive at the apartment. Maria then gets separated from Levy and promptly likes Mason. All of that, along with Maria's continuous blushing was annoying.
