Virginia Candle married the wrong man. She's known that for years. But when she finds out what her husband's company actually does to make their money, it's going to be a lot murkier than separating from a bad life partner.

When the company fires her husband, they're not sending him off with a severance check. He'll get a bullet in the head, plus one for her and their son Tucker. She can either lie down and die, or take action to stop it.

Virginia will have to take matters into her own hands and find a way to gain some leverage. Because she's not going to be a pawn in their game any longer. But when she learns the deception goes much deeper than she had originally thought, her plan threatens to tumble to the ground. How can she protect her son and find her way out of this mess?

This thrilling conclusion to The Whistleblower Saga jumps back in time 20 years to show you how it all began.... and the answers will surprise you!

Fitting conclusion to Whistleblower series

Author Jim Heskett turns the clock back 20 years in this prequel to the Whistleblower trilogy. Tucker Candle is 12 years old and oblivious to the troublesome events set into motion by the man he believes to be his father. Tucker's mother will also find herself embroiled in the mess as she fights to ensure the safety of her son. A secret love affair and some surprising twists make this installment an exciting conclusion to the Whistleblower series.

Well written with a dash of humor, and superbly narrated by Scott Ellis, Strike the Match was an enjoyable listen.

(I was provided a free copy of this audiobook by the author in exchange for my unbiased review. Many thanks to the author for this opportunity!)

How it all began.

What did you love best about Strike the Match?

We get to go back and see how it all started and understand the characters more.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Some. I knew some of how it went down, but Roman was crazy in love to do those break ins.

Which scene was your favorite?

When V finds the hidden documents after Roman is killed.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I cried along with V after Roman was shot.

Thrilling Suspense

I did enjoy listening this book. It did answer questions about Tucker Candle and particularly his parents from the Whistleblower Trilogy. It is full of suspense and action that was also in the trilogy. Narration was good. Recommend to anyone who enjoys thrilling/ suspense. I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author. Thank you

"Love waits for no one."

The Whistleblower Trilogy is wonderful but leaves the reader with certain questions. This book, a complete stand alone thriller in it's own right, addresses these queries and provides a far deeper understanding of the characters involved. The author has been clever in giving us this prequel after the original series as, if read first, much of the mysteriousness of the earlier books would be lost. So potential readers/ listeners beware: do not read this until afterwards.

This is a good thriller, lots of action, well written dialogue and all is beautifully performed, as he always does, by the narrator, Scott Ellis. All of his voicings of individual characters, male and female, are distinctively different and appropriate and the text is read clearly, perfectly paced, with just the right tonal touch of emotion. He is a pleasure to hear: that the story is a good one is a bonus.

An absolute must for all who have already read the Whistleblower Trilogy - For those who have not yet had that pleasure - don't delay, get it now.

Any additional comments?

Strike the Match is Book 4, but a prequel to the Whistle Blower trilogy of Tucker and IntelliCraft. It focuses on Heath and Virginia Candle, explains how Heath and Kareem came to be friends and their falling out, and who Roman Carter is. It does a great job of explaining where the characters came from and how they developed into who they are. It is a story about just how far parents will go to protect their children. This is a great ending. If you enjoyed the trilogy, this is a must.

Great must read

I was gifted this audio ARC for a honest and unbiased review from the author/narrator.
Jim Hewlett wrote this great gripping book about treason, murder and intrigue. From the beginning of the end I was amazed at how good it was.
Scott Ellis is about to be one of my favorite male narrator .
I highly recommend this audio book to anyone who loves a good book on mystery.
