With contagious passion, he strips away fads and myths to offer basic guidelines for participants, from beginning joggers to those preparing for marathons. For years Jerome recorded his thoughts and experiences during his daily training. As he ran, he discovered not only physical benefits, but philosophical ones as well. His wry reflections take you on a joyous journey through the most elemental aspects of the sport—stretching, falling, sweat, bugs, the food police, and more. A fount of prescriptions and wisdom, The Elements of Effort offers a disarming collection of ideas to mull over as you participate in your daily run. So grab your cassette player, lace up your running shoes, and enjoy narrator L.J. Ganser’s entertaining performance.

"I'm a sucker for anything about Running"
Where does The Elements of Effort rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This one would be 4th among my audiobooks. I found it very entertaing and a good light listen while I'm out running

Have you listened to any of L. J. Ganser’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No I haven't

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes it held my attention, although I don't agree with everything he said but it is good to have different opinions and makes long runs on your own go pretty quick

    Any additional comments?

I enjoyed it. It has given me headings, and formats to log stuff onto my own Blog

    "Disappointing"
What would have made The Elements of Effort better?

I'm not sure what annoyed me more - the narrator's voice or the story line. To me it seemed conceited....

    "Enjoyable and motivating"

I enjoy listening to this in the early mornings before my run, and although I don't always agree with absolutely everything he says there is a lot to interest me in there and I've listened to it a few times.
