"Too basic and not really interesting"

I am big sports fan, reading sports newspaper everyday, following tweets, mostly football and basketball, but tennis, handball, Formula 1 and some other sports as well. I thought I might like this one, the way I liked Freakonomics, which this one obviously tries to mimmick.

Unfortunately, it does not succeed. I have skipped quite few chapters - some because they were too basic for me and I knew the point (if not the numbers) behind them, and some were just not interesting enough.

With regards to performance - numbers and sums are obviously important part of the book. However, narrator makes following this worse by constantly exchanging GBP to USD, behind every sum mentioned. Same is with distances, weights etc. Really annoying.

"Interesting read but $$$$ the dollars!"

I enjoyed the content and subjects and reviews of this book but was driven mad by the constant equivalent unit values. This seemed to me an English book, read by a very English voice so why do we need to hear the equivalent $ to £ values. It really detracted from the enjoyment of the topics and overall impression of the book.
